Logging in doesn't seem to change this.
Is it the browser or has something else changed?

Do not use the browser, use a real FTP client.

If you are using Chrome it is because it has dropped support for FTP.

Exactly

Same as if you open with Edge; you'll be prompted and will load in Internet Explorer instead.

It works in Iron, what I use as backup browser, it's Chrome without being infected with all the Google crap.

Also works in Pale Moon, it's what Firefox used to be like before it went to "hell" with the Chrome'ish UI.

The ftp as of today no longer works on firefox either. When you click on the link a box appears asking you which application you want to use to open the ftp. If you select firefox nothing happens.

I know it was working fine yesterday so something has changed.

Just set to open in "Internet Explorer". Done

I know that nobody still uses this; me neither but I do only for FTP access when I'm too lazy to start an FTP client.

I just did some Googling and it seems Mozilla is following suit and removing FTP support. I have just updated to the latest beta so that might explain it. I can always use FileZilla but sometimes its more convenient to click on the links in Firefox.

Oh well.

I use Total Commander. It has a great FTP client built in and I then have my list of regular FTP sites. Plus feels 1990’s using a dedicated client.

Hmm, I'll see if I can find a HTTP/HTTPS solution for when you just want a random file here and there.

Best I can do right now is to allow HTTP links in the search options here:
https://grandis.nu/eabsearch (I need to rename them to turransearch some day..)

You will find a checkbox for enabling HTTP links instead of FTP links. So if you use the search function to find the file you want, you can grab it from there. The result from your search are all clickable links (always have been, but only for FTP:// links).

I opted for HTTP instead of HTTPS since it would make eabsearch more friendly for real Amigas. Let me know what you think.

If you click on a txt or png file for example, it will actually show it instead of downloading it. Just right click the link and select "Save link as.." (depending on browser) to download it instead.

I can't really open the browsing of the FTP from HTTP(S) as that would make it so everyone that is constantly trying to download the whole FTP with the anonymous account just grabbing a HTTP downloader instead and bypassing the 50kb/Sec limit and I can't be arsed to set up a speed limit in Apache.

I really enjoy using the browser. Thanks to those that recommended alternative browsers.

I'm pleasantly surprised Total Commander has FTP built-in.

Thank you so much Turran for adding the new download option. Fantastic.
