Bootable Diskspare Floppy?

Just wondering if it's technically possible to make a Diskspare floppy bootable or is that simply not possible?

It's probably feasible to make a dual format floppy with a small OFS/FFS section that can be booted, setup Diskspare and hand over control to the newly mounted device. Bootblock, rootblock etc would have to be tweaked as necessary.

But you'd have to really WANT to Could be a fun task just for the hell of it.

That's what I was thinking, but no idea how to do it! Something like tracks 0-1 as standard 11 blocks + bootblock so the Amiga will recognise the disk and somehow mount diskspare to use the rest?

Someone did it with Xfloppy it's like Diskspare, seems like you'd need to split it into three maybe 4 ? partitions Track 1- AmigaDos BootBlock, Track 40 - AmigaDos with your commands and Mountlist etc, and the rest DiskSpare.

Yeah, forgot the important track 40! Was xfloppy was ever finished, the one on aminet is buggy and prone to read/write errors!

I don't think so but a member who is now banned put a Hard Drive version of B.C. Kid on 1 floppy to prove 1 floppy version using XFloppy.

Was that post on EAB? xfloppy doesn't contain an example mountlist but I guess it will be the same as diskspare, only mountable under workbench unless the disk is setup to boot lke mushasi said!

The block number of the root block (normally 880) is in the bootblock though - is this not honoured by AmigaDOS, so you could put the root block on track 0?
