Find disks in multi-disk games?
Perhaps it's obvious to everyone else...
But what's the easiest way to find those other disks, in multi-disk games, like Shadow of the Beast? When it asks me to insert disk 2... am I supposed to browse all my files util I find it? It doesn't sound quite right. I expected that it would be a bit easier than that. Is it? |

Hi Krutknut, each floppy is an individual file. They need to be put in the floppy drive of UAE as requested.
Use WHDLoad to avoid disk swaps and lots of other bothers! Ask if you dont know what this is. |

(I am not quite happy with Whdload, as I haven't figured out which WinUAE version and configuration works well with it (if there is one?))

There is of course IGame, a nice WHDLoad front end.

I tried IGame as well. Nice as it is, whdload still won't launch Turrican II correctly, unless I boot on classic WB, and then iGame doesn't look so nice anymore. Neither does the game icons.
If anyone has an idea of what version / configuration of winUAE I should use, then I'd be happy to try it again. GameBase Amiga has the advantages of starting without first starting WinUAE, and also it seems quite reliable. |

I have issues with turrican2 too. Hmm must look at the version.
Edit... Just updated Turrican 2 install to 1.5 and it works perfectly. Last edited by DDNI; 01 April 2007 at 22:11. |

You did? How did you do that? I have not actually used the installer, as I got the game packs with pre-installed games. Maybe it's easy?
Edit: it seems that the KG installed version I have is already 1.5. What installer did you use? Last edited by krutknut; 01 April 2007 at 22:32. |

Right, the WHD support is going to use KG's WHD installs, all you have to do is put them all in WHDLoad directory in your extras directory. They won't need renaming and should be kept zipped.
As for adfs and multidisk games there are two ways to easily swap disks. Either use winuae's diskswapper feature as GameBase Amiga loads all disks into the diskswapper, or if you bring up winuaes gui and go to the floppy drives you can simply edit the filename, if it asks for disk 2 and disk 1 is in, simply change the 1 in the filename for a 2, click ok and thats all there is to it. |

about WHD support
Support for WHDLoad games (specifically KG's packs) is already implemented and works. It is only being improved now (and made more user friendly) and will be part of the next GBA release.

In GamebaseST the files are in one zip archive, so when Gamebase unzips them it splits them into the various drives if the files are named correctly.
ie: Agony Disk1 Agony Disk2 Agony Disk3 All these zipped into 1 archive and Gamebase will but put Disk 1 into drive 0, disk 2 into drive 1 etc. I am (slowly) modifying my Gamebase Amiga to do this so i'm not browsing through all the files. |
