However, revisiting some old TV series that have been rescanned for HD quality - can spot certain bloopers that VHS quality sort of hid. Still regard analogue medium as 'cool' though |

Whoever rewound a tape cassette with a pencil? I'm glad those days are over.

And how VHS could beat BETA or Video2000 still remains a miracle to me..... Good looby work and a stupid customer, maybe. Or it was just the fact that was available on VHS only. |

I still use all four...
Not as much as in their prime, but still. Most of the floppies I have from the 80s still work fine, VHS & audio tapes recorded in the early 80s preserved amazingly well. |

Forget, hell, I still use all of these! Although I'll take Laserdisc over VHS, but then the selection is much narrower...

I love them and use them all. These days I often used pencil because fastforward/reverse isn't working on my deck that I use to record games for C64. Few months ago I released my karaoke album on diskette. And I have VCR. When friends see it they are thrilled and the first thing that sparks to theirs minds is do you have some p*rn on vhs which coincidentally I happened to have cause when I was picking up some of mine old cassettes from my parents home I picked among others one unlabeled which I couldn't remember what's on it but I knew that it's something important
and on an old audio tape I found mine old textual adventure I made in basic for c64 as a kid. If it was on CD it wouldn't survive. |

Yep, many a time I recall using a HB pencil or bic pen to rewind a cassette back in my Speccy days. As for 3.5" disks. On more than one occasion I ended up with corrupt data or it got stuck in my Amiga where the metal slider had pinged off. Ahhhh, those were the days. VHS - it amazes me still how many stalls on market day near where I live still sell these. And those king sized floppy disks. First time I used these was in my first job as a Database Administrator; I was responsible for several networked IBM machines as well as backing them up once a week. What a laborious job that was lol. |

As for VHS tapes, I've installed a video recorder and an old-school cathode ray TV for my kids to watch movies on. I've picked up two cardobard boxes full of classic quality movies and carotoons for about .50$ each. The as-new VHS machine was found at the dumpster including remote.
The reason? As a parent I'm sick and tired of seeing DVD's ruined after just a few weeks or months, because they are simply too fragile. VHS tapes last decades and are kid-proof. Just don't put them besides a plasma ball :-) |

Not to mention that there's all kinds of weird little movies that have never seen a DVD release...
