A4000 keyboard question regarding keycaps

Howdy,

I recently got an A4000 keyboard with some (5) broken keys.. (physically broken, as in broken plastic)
They are this type:
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/tVgAA...sI/s-l1600.jpg
Now this guy on eb*y sells them but with his price + shipping + VAT/Import charges, 5 keycaps would be close to $100, which isn't very appealing for me.

So here's the actual question; from what other keyboard model/version (other than A4000 of course) would I get the best donor-caps? The cheaper the keyboard the better.

(Side note, I have something like 4 sets ordered from the A1200.net campaigns, but that's taking a while..)

I have an old A500 keyboard that have same keycaps and plunger (black color), but instead the rubber dome it has a spring.
The keyboard is using the plastic membrane.

Virtually all Amiga keyboards use the same Mitsumi keys, but colour-wise, the A1200 keys would be the best fit.

I suspect replacement keysets will be plenty once A1200.net manages to get its production run done.

I literally used an old A500 keyboard to replace my A4000 one so I'd keep an eye out in your area for A500's which would be much cheaper than A4000's nowadays

Those particular keycaps are only found in the older PCB based A2000/A3000/A4000 Mitsumis. If you intend to swap from a wedge Amiga's keyboard or a later membrane based A4000 keyboard, you will have to swap the plunger with the cap. The keycap's printing and finish will look a bit different but it will sit flush if you swap them as a pair.

Basically only the A4000 keyboard has suitable parts, as the other keyboards with that same mechanism have beige caps.

The A1200.net keycaps will be for the membrane based Mitsumi keyboards, so you will have to get a set of membrane keycap plungers to go with them. The rubber cup springs are compatible with both kinds of keyboard.

I got a non-working 500 keyboard from Ebay and used the darker keys to replace a couple of mine that had broken on the 4000 keyboard.

They weren't the same colour so I replaced all the darker keys and it looks a lot better now.

I currently have some other friendly soul here in the forum having a look for some keys too, but anyway, the broken keys are:
"F3", "F4", "F5", "4", "5"
The caps are broken and so are some of the white plastic things that the caps snap into.
(The link I posted in the original post show the exact type of keys.)

The PCB style stems and caps are much more brittle than the membrane style stems and caps :-(

Might be, although I get the feeling someone smashed this one with a fist, or dropped something onto it. (its a localized cluster of keys that broke).
