SCSI-III to SCSI-II adapter on GVP HC+8 Series II

For the last few years I have had my 9.1GB SCSI-III drive mounted in one of the disk drive spots on my A2000 because the size of the SCSI-III to SCSI-II adapter I have makes it impossible to attach the HD to the card.

Does anyone know of a very small adapter that would allow me to screw the drive onto the card and have 2 floppy drives?

You could do a lot worse than try to acquire a short-ish SCSI-III M-F cable to separate the bridge from the disk itself. I had a similar issue trying to fit a hard disk onto an A2000 HC, in the end I just tracked down a 4GB 50pin SCSI drive.

I've been wanting a ~4gb SCSI-II drive for a long time but have never come across one. Don't spose anyone has one lying around?

What do you mean by SCSI-III? For that matter what do you meaning by SCSI-II?

I am guessing that you have a 68pin wide drive (also part of the scsi2 spec), and 50pin ribbon cable with IDC connectors? Or maybe an SCA-2 connector on the drive (80pin). Mostly the 80pin converters are chunky because they are also taking power and providing jumpers. There are nicer smaller adaptors for 68pin to 50pin and vice versa. If all devices on the bus have 68pin connectors, you could move the adaptor to the host end of the cable, and use a 68pin cable.

Going to check, but I think I might have a source for the small 68/50 adaptors.

Yeah I've got a drive with a 68 pin connector and using a 50 pin ribbon cable to connect it to the controller.

There's two main types:

TThin kind, but sticks out unbalanced on the side

PCB kind, balanced horizontally, but might be too high.

This guy is local, and does do adaptors, but not sure what type. He could probably even make a custom cable.

I have some 68pin 4.3GB drives, if you are interested. All my 50pin drives are either dodgy, or small capacity.

The adaptor I've got looks like the PCB one. Pretty sure it's identical, actually.

A custom made cable sound like the way to go, I will send that guy an email.
