F11 Key? There is no F11 Key

The Keycodes are listed if you get into WinUAE`s input configuration

I know that the Amiga has no F11 key! But the PC has, so i wanted to use that for a quitkey because it will never be used by any Amiga Game.

This would require you to MAP your preffered amiga hotkey to F11 on PC.

So instead of having keypad * as quitkey, map it to F11

Amiga can't read PC keyboard afaik only what keys are on standard amiga keyboard

So it isn't possible to have this function on F11? Would have thought that through WinUAE this should be possible.

WHDLoad is a purely Amiga application and independent of emulation, so it doesn't know of anything outside the Amiga world e.g. the F11 key on a PC keyboard.

You could set up WinUAE so that pressing Windows F11 is like pressing Amiga F10 and then use F10 as the WHDLoad quit key, but you'd still be using an Amiga key.

As said, you see the keycode in the input-section of WinUAE...
you can configure it as you wish obviously, but you will still have to use an "Amiga-Key" for that.

I'd suggest the DEL key. I haven't ever needed this on my A1000.

You can use any key which is not present on normal Amiga.
I would suggest any of the 'keycode ...' in the input target selection in WinUAE.
For example 'keycode 0x2b (0x2b)' in WinUAE and 'QuitKey=$2b' in WHDLoad.
With that you have an quitkey which never will conflict with any key used in an Amiga program.

0x2b is used on german Amigas at least - its the # Key.
But its highly unlikely any Game will use it.

What about the two blank keys on some a600/1200 keyboards (between L-Sh and Z; and ' and enter) - do these map to any particular keys on a PC keyboard under emulation?

Think about flight simulators! Those would use ANY key available to cover all assignments to flight controls.

Yes, maybe 0x70 is better, or try one of the CDTV ones.

So if someone is using a PC keyboard on a towered amiga there is no way to map the quit key to F11 or F12?

That's the point
There is no key assigned to this code, therefore it should be useful to use it for a key on your non-amiga-keyboard with uae.

I have used 'QuitKey=$4b' which is what UAE has configured as f11 seems to work fine, not sure if its used by the amiga itself?

edit: after testing it seems to work well as any other pc keyboard key does not quit except for F11 including the keypad.

ive got a similar problem, for some reason the "prnt scrn" key on my laptop wont exit any game, if i look in input/keyboard menu next to [b7] prnt scrn it says input target <none>,

I have tried to alter this so that the target is also prnt screen but i cannot select the prnt screen key.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

The prt screen button it is referring to is on the Amiga keyboard, not on your laptop keyboard.

On an Amiga "Prt Scr" and "*" are the same key so try setting one of your keys to * in input target.
