Hello,

I am catching up with some old games and I've finished Space Quest 4 today. I wanted to post my experiences, perhaps the devs would like to hear some feedback.

First I have downloaded the whole bundle from lemonamiga and the game did not want to start. It tries to launch the executable "Prog" but in the data directory the executable is called "SQ4". I have renamed "SQ4" to "Prog" but alas, that did not work.

Then I downloaded the LHA from the WHDLoad website and installed manually using diskettes. There are some installer errors that can be skipped, but ok... The game is sort-of ok, with the exception that it crashes every now and then with:

Exception "Privilege Violation" ($20)
at $7FCF18F6 (ExpMem $8F6)

I am not sure whether the number change, they probably do, I just know that it crashes a lot - some of the nastiest crashes are during movies and in-between saves because it is hard to recover from them.

About the saves... Sometimes, while saving, the machine freezes. Sometimes, the game manages to create a save file which, when loaded, ends up in a WHDLoad crash. Other times, it just locks-up the machine and you have to reboot.

Just tried the pre-installed version in WinUAE, same config as in your post + 32mb and it works fine. The game started first time, no SQ4 or PROG problems.

I watched a bit of the intro and played about 5mins of the game, no crashes.

Game saved and restored without crashing.

I'm using WHDLoad 18.0
