Future Wars - WHDload game speed

Is there a tooltype option to slow this game down to normal speed, as it seeps to play a lot faster than if it was loaded from floppy. When I get to the 'map room' I can't enter the code into the door keypad as the ceiling comes down far too quickly than it would normally.

Any help is appreciated.

Future Wars floppy version is also unplayable fast with A1200.

Same with Loom. Is there slowdown also for this game? Freezes every time with WHDLoad and same problem with the floppy version...

I don't have any speed issues with the floppy versions at all. They play perfectly for me. it's just the WHDload version that seems to play faster.

Do you use the slave v4.0? Tried the NoCache tooltype?

Try ExpChip-tooltype, it should slow the game down.

I'm an idiot, I forgot to add the switch. I can confirm that ExpChip tooltype has fixed the problem and the game plays perfectly

Glad it made the game workin' for you . With "ExpChip" I was able to play Indiana Jones & Temple of Doom with reasonable speed also. It was a lightning whip-fest before that on my setup .

Tested WHD Loom kick1.3 instead of 3.1 - works like a charm!

Hello, I'm trying to get this working again 10 years later but still having problems with the ToolTypes.

As you can see from my previous post, I managed to slow down Future Wars using the ExpChip ToolType, and I mentioned a switch.....

I have no idea now what that switch was.

What exactly do I need to type in the ToolTypes to get this to work correctly?

Cheers.

you just need to type

EXPCHIP

but that's not a proper solution. For instance, on an emulator, this won't work, you'll have to reduce cpu speed instead. On some boards that have a fast chipmem access this may not be enough.

Most games that go too fast can be regulated properly. But it means some work with the whdload slave but that's already been done a lot of times (Magic Pockets, Populous...).

Hmmm, I managed to get it to slow down with Win UAE previously. It's not working now though. I wonder what 'switch' I was talking about.

winuae: use cpu and slow it down with scaler. Just annoying to have to do that depending on the game. whdload fixes should take speed into account.
