Question What is the difference?

Hi guys!

I'm making a mess of this!!

Pls, I would like to know what is the difference between: "WHDLoad - Games" (.lha), "HD Loaders - Games" (.lha), "JST - Games" (.lha) ? Pls see the link. They all have the same format (.lha). It is not understood. Pls, I would also like to know what is the difference between ".lha", ".hdf" or the ".ipf" and which is the best option to emulate without disk.

Link Games

Thank you so much.

I guess that WHDLoad Games require WHDLoad to be run, JST Games require JST to be run and HD Loaders don't need additional software.

WHDLoad and JST are degraders which make old games run on less old Amiga models (like running games designed for A500 on a A1200). They also allow to install floppy disk-based games on harddrive.

LHA is an archive format like ZIP, RAR or 7z. It's commonly used on AmigaOS while ZIP and the others ore more commonly used on Windows.

HDF is a harddisk image file. A large file which can act as a harddrive for emulators. Similar to what an ISO file is for CD and DVD.

IPF is a floppy disk image file. It is recorded at the magnetic level, therefore the image is much larger than other similar file formats. The benefit is that it preserves the original magnetic disk structure, including possible copy protections and custom track formats.
