Mod or hardware to use DF1 as DF0 on A600?
Had a look at Amigakit and didn't find any. Something like the jumper on the ACA630, so you don't have to have an internal floppy but still boot and use "as if df1: was df0:". But I need to do it on 68000 (accelerator off, so jumper has no function). So I need something for the motherboard.
Possible at all? Has someone done it? How? I can solder and make PCBs. |

Completely possible, but you have to have good solder skills to invert the two CIA traces to route DF1 to internal header and df0 to outer side.

So find DF1/DF0 SEL pins on CIA, cut both, make new traces by soldering from CIA-pins to ext floppy port and int floppy port?
(Or use thin wire and cut traces at floppy-ports and solder wire to trace) Is that really all you have to do? |

I made a thread about it in Amibay some time ago (but a thread with this info already exists in EAB as well...)
Anyway check out the things you need to do: - Cut the traces from mobo of Pins 15 and 16 (yellow line) - Wire the Pin 15 to External drive's connector Pin 11 - Wire the Pin 16 to External drive's connector Pin 9 |

Okiday, I will do this mod then.
Will my internal floppy terminator terminate DF1 then, or will the system not even look for DF1 since internal floppy-port is unconnected? <-- (Just trying to avoid the system looking for a DF1 inside the A600 on every boot after I do this mod ) |

System will not try to locate DF1 if no streaming signal comes from outside connector, so the Amiga will boot in no time, as always.

I'd rather hack the short df0 floppy cable than use traces on motherboard.

Actually since I need to open the A600 again, I think I'll have a look-see if I can put the DF0 back in, now that the DC-DC adapter that was inside has been replaced with an external PSU.
Or maybe even a floppy emulator, are there any good ones? I really don't know anything about them or how (well) they work. |
