the 80s'

Amiga, was The Machine of the 80s', the heart of those years. What are the games of 80s' that belong to be ported on Amiga, or worth playing?

The late 80s perhaps once the A500 was released and was made accessible to middle class families.

What 80's games should be ported to the Amiga? All of them

From Arcade:
Double Dragon, P.O.W, Wardner, Contra, Jackal, The New Zealand Story, Ikari Warriors, Prison Break,

If you plot a graph of Amiga games released the peak would be late 80s and early 90s. Looks like somebody did: https://twitter.com/simoncarless/sta...357440/photo/1
There are some 80s games that the Amiga missed out on (or got a bad port), but funnily enough there are new ports popping up in the last years. Rygar and Green Beret would have been games to list here if they wouldn't have been ported over already

i like a lot all the games Indiana Jones style, set in tombs/caverns/temples or similar

so i would like to see a Montezuma revenge port at some point
or Pitfall II, i know Earok is working on that, but the arcade version

maybe something like Superfrog, like the Egyptian setting, but not just a linear platform; more deep, like JoeGunn on the c64

Superfrog like with Egyptian setting you say ..

Babylonia Twins springs to mind, took a while to be complete (1994) and remained unpublished until it was released on apple ios, I think.

Anyway, yes, the 80s is an era of wonder, was awesome overload for films and games. Growing up the arcades were everywhere, was lucky to probably play every major game on their own legit cabinet at some point.

Other amiga coders sum up probably why so many games never got a port, even the more basic 8-bit ones like scramble. They just were not cool enough, at the time. What you did get was a remake with "improved" visuals and it never felt the same. Combined with the game boom in the late 80s and early 90s, there was never enough time or money for developers to make everything, often released rushed for xmas sales etc etc.

Appreciate so much all the current amiga developers giving their time to bring us new ports and new games, long may it last!

One could say there never was a finished Amiga game and the whole demo was just a marketing plot to sell the iOS game. There are a couple of old threads on here where you can read the story of the Amiga version and the... 'interesting' reasons why it was never released.

There is a lot of good 8bit games that I loved on C64 and were never ported. I would appreciate R.I.S.K. from Edge or Draconus for example, with enhanced graphics.

The Amiga got plenty of ports, usually not great. I'm more happy that it got trunk loads of original titles because that is what really matters.

i think the best period for Amiga games are from the end of 80s and first 90s. (from 1988/9 to 1992/3)

Commercial success is one peak.

It had more or less lost all of it's mystique by then.

The A1000 era before the A500 release was an amazing experience.
I took out a bank loan of £1700 for my A1000 and it was worth every penny to be in that exclusive club.
