FB 357A slow read with DD floppies

Hi,

is the FB 357A slow too when working with DD floppies ?
i mean, the motor speed is good, you can see the difference between DD and HD, but despite the fact the motor run at 300 rpm, when scanning content of floppy... it's slow as with HD floppy.
is that normal for this particular model, or is it an issue ?

i noticied that, because i get a "joblot" of floppy drives recently, and they're all near twice as fast when scanning content. and they're all DD only.

this 357A is the original drive of my 3000.

thanks.

You mean head stepping? There's no feedback on that, so as long as it works, it is fast enough, and making it faster doesn't make any difference as the OS uses a fixed delay between steps.

If it "scans" across the disk more than other drives (using the same disk), there may be an issue causing read errors so it has to retry - that will of course make it slower.

yes, i mean head stepping. really far slower than others drives i have.
i'm also sure of his head alignement. but he seems to act like if it work with HD floppy.

Use Amiga Test Kit to check the disk signals and to perform read and alignment tests on it.

i forgot to mention, it was with fat formatted floppies. i redo testing with ffs/ofs formatted floppies, and it work normally.
that's a bit weird, as others are faster with fat.
the HD switch work as expected, and i'm sure of head alignement.

but i'll try with amiga test kit, i didn't know it... let's see
