A small list of games...

hi,

these are the ones that come into my mind right now, I'm feeling free to edit this list to add some more stuff.

- Deep Space (my copy is definitely 100% working, looking through it revealed that it was copied from the *original* disk using extra hardware e.g. CYCLONE, so this simply *cannot* work with emulators because it still contains FULL copy-protection
Briefly: this is a BASTARD. I honestly tried to at least warp it with each and every warper tool available on WHDLoad on my REAL A500 -- bummer. Really *no* *way*. Instead, errors, errors, errors ...)

- Terrorpods OCS
(we had this on the AEN board long ago)

- Side Arms (got an image done with transdisk from a guy that was absolutely unusable on any Amiga-like system (the disk, not the guy <grin><scnr> ))
[Update!] (2001/09/06) Working Quartex crack uploaded by CodyJarrett!

- The Halley Project (a warp exists, but that can't just be "converted" to ADF in a blink of an eye)
[Update!] (2001/07/14) DONE by Codetapper! Works perfectly on WinFellow!

- Dragon's Breath

- Realm of the trolls aka Down At The Trolls
(was never cracked at all iirc)

[Update/ADD]
- Arctic Fox (all images on the net seem rotten to the core, what we need is a *working* original Codetapper or others can crack from the start)

That's all I know for now...

Big grin Halley Project cracked (but doesn't load in emulators - YET!)

OK dudes, another game bites the dust!

If you unpack Halley Project warp onto an Amiga disk using MFMWarp and Deep mode, it unpacks OK...

MFMWarp WRITE Halley.wrp DEEP

Then install the disk as the bootblock seems to be some stupid thing which just waits for the mouse button and crashes.

If you load the game with no caches and in OCS mode on a real Amiga, it will load and work (a strange game with a *really* weird title track using samples, a bit like Starglider's intro music... No idea what language the singer is singing in!)

Track 78 has the copy protection (utter shit) which will not image properly. Hence if you try and create an ADF with a standard tool like DIC it will find the error on the track, skip it but the game will not work. The drive will grind for a few times and then hang.

I have made a WHDLoad version which seems to work nicely (and saves pilot data, fixes bugs etc) and will try and create an ADF version now... I removed the protection and tried to load the game but it just guru's on both WinUAE and Fellow - I think the loader is the problem. Possibly dropping a Rob Northen loader onto the disk might get it to work (I will try).

Otherwise you'll just have to live with the WHDLoad version...

I will upload one or both shortly...

Halley Project ADF

This does not work on some emulators but works on real Amiga's (well mine anyway

HD version will be on the WHDLoad site shortly which will allow you to play the game on all emulators (using this disk image)...

This is just too groovy. The first ever crack (well, obviously far more than just a crack...) of one of the all-time great obscurities! I've said it before and I'll say it again...Codetapper, you rule!

Working in emulators!

Hmm, looks like I need to upgrade my version of Fellow... I still use v0.3.5 (dos) as it has the best/fastest debugger. I will test my stuff in WinUAE from now but I'm glad it does work...

BTW, anyone know how to play it properly? I fluked getting to earth once and landing (only to be told to go back to the comet!) but the direction thing seems totally bizarre - I have no idea whether the little radar direction or the part you are looking at out the window is the direction you move in or anything...

PS: What did you lads think of the music? Strange eh!

yep sounds like ancient 1978 funky disco sound ... "fly robin fly" or something -- but definitely NOT like 1986.

I´ll be damned!!! I had to download it and try it out just to be sure it wasn´t an evil joke or something. But it WORKS!

Codetapper, I´m glad you live far away from me. That way I can´t buy you the amount of beer you deserve! Cheers anyway!

I am shocked. The man is slipping. Perhaps he simply can't be arsed? I'd hate to have to do it for him. I might even feel the urge to not center the images properly...

Fred,

before I upload a config here, MAKE SURE you're using a recent snapshot of WinFellow and not an old version.
Secondly, you had better use ORIGINAL floppy speed instead of Fast Disk DMA but because I had problems with the latter setting.

Evil grin Why can't it always be that simple? :-P

Heck, why didn't I try this before?!

Halley project works perfectly with WinUAE-JIT 0.8.16 R4!

Thanks to Zaxxon from Bella Italia for telling me this simple truth!

Cool Side Arms

I meant to do this before, but I've uploaded Side Arms to the ADF-Zone, which was in the list at the top of this thread.

Amigaboy, you are referring to the OCS version? If so all I have is the ECS one.

ECS/OCS ?!?!

Of Terrorpods??? I don't think so. The game was originally released during the OCS era and was never released for ECS that I am aware of. And the only version I have ever seen of that game circulating anywhere is the JST version that everyone has. That and the hardware-copied versions, which certainly haven't circulated on the net. Even my hardware-copied version has since developed R/W errors, so I had to buy the bloody original (I wanted it anyhow...)
