@Marz,
I'm thinking from Final Fantasy, possibly X ?!? Looks like a Squaresoft image, and I bet I'm one of the few that really liked the movie |

Correctamundo, RCK!
I guess you know your Final Fantasy stuff very well. You play all the games? Although I have to give kudos to jmmijo as well for correctly guessing the pic was FFX-related. |

Workbench colour query
Hi All,
My old WB was always run under 8 colours using the magicwb gradient background tool ... can't remember the name of that tool. But now that I have installed UAE (After finding this newsgroup), and run it at 16m colours I can't seem to get the WB to accept a 256 or higher backdrop image. It just says unable to read your file ....x/x/x.iff etc. Is there something I should do with the image first ? If I run AIAB I can change the backdrop at my lesiure, but I tried installing a clean WB3.1 install to a hard drive image and re-creating my own WB again I installed the UAE Picasso drivers, but can't get WB to recognise hi-colour depth images. As I say, this is the first time I've actually been able to use more than 8 colours and I'm off into undiscovered teritory. Thanks, Dave |

@DM
The only way I know how to use hi-colour depth background images is to install scalos from http://scalos.striatum.org/ Scalos is a WB replacement. |

Most of the time an 256 color image is enough if it's nicely dithered. Wouldn't a 16 or 24 bit image slow you down?

AIAB (AmigaInABox) uses Scalos for a lot of the features it offers.

Well here's my workbench setup. I know it's taken directly from WinUAE, but everything is copied directly from my A1200 setup wise. Color scheme and bg pattern that is as well as the icons left out and the names of drives.
BTW Marz. Where'd you get the background? Is there any way I could get my hands on that? It looks good. |

Well, it's part of a big collection of FFX wallpapers, and some of these wallpapers can be found on various FFX-related sites (not sure about the official one though, haven't tried yet) on the net. I found that Rikku wallpaper from a Rikku Fan Site. Try searching for them on Google, unless you want me to provide you with a link to a site containing wallpapers or possibly even upload that Rikku wallpaper to the Zone?

As promised, here goes my A600 Wb... A600 with 2MB chip, 8 colors WB. That's all you got, running MagicMenu (not shown) and no icon patch. All icons done or reworked for 8 colors by me, it took me months I remember!
I have another WB setup in the other partition,. but it's only for showing off. It's in 16 colors and mighty slow (note: I added the scanlines effect, this is not an emulation screenshot!) [edit: I forgot to add, I hav two more patches loaded, one that adds that Amiga logo at the Workbench bar, and another one that removes icons' borders] Last edited by Amiga1992; 19 February 2002 at 19:21. |

And since now I have an A120, here's the Workbench I'm looking at, after its initial configuration. Keep in mind this is my first attempt, specially at running extras like MCP and MUI... As soon as I make a new one I will post it.

Now my A600 HD is working again, I can at last include a screenshot of my workbench. It doesn't look very exciting compared to Scalos on WinUAE. But at least it's the real thing!
