Howdy from Oregon USA
I've been interested in Commodore 64s since they were a new thing. Over the last 10 years or so I've renewed my related interests, collecting peripherals, peforming basic repairs, etc. My collection has expanded to the 64's predecessors from Commodore (PET, Vic-20) and some of its contemporary competitors. The Amiga has always been a mystery to me, and never really held much interest, but I recently had an opportunity to buy an entire Amiga 500 (US) system from its original owner for an excellent price, and obviously it's Commodore 64-adjacent, so if I'm keeping a PET in my collection, an Amiga would be the other bookend.
Although my Amiga 500 is basically functional, it does have some critical issues that I need some help with, and will be posting in support.Hardware. |

Thanks everyone!
desiv, I've been considering starting up a regular in-person retrocomputing / retrogaming meetup in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Would you be interested? I've started a list of folks with contact info so I can get in touch if it ever actually happens. The hardest part might be finding a place to meet. I'd prefer it to be really informal, and that means not collecting money, and that means meeting someplace for free. Ideally it would be a pizza place (or similar) where they'll let us use a room for a few hours once a month with the understanding that we're going to buy their food/drink. I need to do research on that. If we have to pay rent, then it gets really complicated: membership dues, bank accounts, officers, formal LLC registration, blah blah blah. I just want to play a little Space Taxi, man! |
