I'm looking for a very quick top down Racer

Iv'e looked for a number of years on and off like you do but iv'e had no joy finding this neat game

It was one of the more simpler multiple scrolling overhead games out there and it was absurdly fast.I think there were a lot of options for what class of vehicle you chose

Along the lines of this but a little more simple
http://hol.abime.net/1671

You could race against computer but i'm not absolutely sure split screen was in there.Very addictive it was too and so i wish i could play it again.This was on a coverdisk and pd i think

And while i'm at it i may as well ask for something else i would like to see again.A vertical shooter that was part of a competition i think and given away on a coverdisk- i wouldn't like to guess which one though.The whole package i think was done by the one guy and it was distinctly odd looking yet very impressive i thought regards to how much action the screen crammed.Music was similarly odd.It seemed quite the feat back then and i'm suprised it's never mentioned

Iv'e scanned all of Hol for it but both of these don't show up when i scan through the pics.Knowing the names would of course help but i don't

Anyone have a clue

cheers

Hmmm, I used to play Team17 Overdrive which was pretty quick. That one?

<edit> but it wasn't that simple, certainly not simpler than HOL link, so probably not that one! I have Super Skidmarks, is it that one?</edit>

No sorry guys it wasn't an official release and yes the graphics were quite simple- nice enough but plain.It was very green with grey roads like the pic shows

Iv'e not seen it in so many years and it makes me think maybe it's just another lost game- and that would be a shame as it's a lot of fun

Yeah it's none of those on Hol unfortunately.Much more green - no detail just flat green - and a more lonely atmosphere being that the whole thing from menu, track and cars are visually not all that sophisticated

Thanks though

Did you look at all the "Racing" games? Some of them are PD and unreleased.

No not that one either and it's not quite as simple as this one- in between being very simple and like my picture link.The roads were much wider and i remember the car being just red- you could choose colour i think

I can remember this Racing Game ....yeah, it has been PD, but i really need to remember the name

As the topic starter said, it was a really easy game ...graphics were also very easy.
I will check those coverdisks for this game.

I've never played this, but the game that came straight to mind, mainly because Amiga Power Issue 62 was currently in the bathroom, was "Screech";

The review said it was quite "slow and cerebral" though, so it may not be what you are after.

But if had tons of vehicle classes to choose, it could only be one of the Skidmarks series

Sadly not Akira

It was definitely a scroller and a very fast one at that.Thinking about it i remember that the car got faster and faster(as obvious as that sounds, it didn't cap top end) and as a result was very difficult to control at these higher speeds.Simple menu and biggish yet simple car graphics with quite close top down view to plainly single coloured road and grass

Thanks for the try

@Adropac:

I really know what you mean. So, where can we find this game?
I guess it was one of those Public Domain Coverdisk magazines we had here in Germany..

Well, i think i should check my PD games again ...
