No idea sorry; but according to the SPS website there is only this preserved:

I second Damien 100 times. That would be even more than awesome !
Would also love to copy the files on the HD to play this game again.
(as the patch available on Aminet did not worked correctly for me - got messed colours during the game).

Into the Zone! SPS367 used as source.
Please test.

Protection fully removed, there is no more even the requester screen.
But I'm not completely convinced from my choice, you cannot listen indefinitely the intro music because game load directly..
Tell me if I need to change this behavior.

Enjoy!

If possible, personally I'd say leave the protection screen there, like the WHDLoad version does and you just type anything.

It also gives a small intro to the game:

Thank you ross !!
Will try it tomorrow.
However if it's not a big deal I would also recommend keeping the protection check questions (but cracked). They are part of the DNA of the game.

Back in the day, I had an A500 (KS 1.3) and a softkicking (1.3/2.04) A3000. I distinctly remember never hearing the corrupted music when booting the game on the A500, and always hearing the corrupted music on the A3000.

As it is an American game, either SPS is missing a dump of the American version, or there was just one version for the world (in which case the "EU" should be changed).

Ah, nice!

The version I have mentions the game has 81 tracks. Is the IPF you used like that?

I dont know how this is possible. Maybe Toni could have a clue.

I don't see any "EU"..

In the version used code do not access to tracks above 79.
It is a standard OCS disk, with a partial standard FS, raw access to tracks (using trackdisk.device) and the aforementioned manual protection.

In Aminet "Faery_Patch.readme" there is:
Code:
Important warning: There are at least 2 different Amiga Faery Tale
Adventure diskette versions. I know this because I sent my first
diskette back to MicroIllusions in exchange for a free update (with
some bug fixes). This patch is known to work with the free update
version. I am unable to test this patch with the original version.
It might work, but then again it might not.
As I wrote in a previous message I have two versions of the game with some minor differences in the raw data and in the main executable,
but I have no idea what the latest version is

Thank you ross !
No more "micro" sound issue when the book appears

As I get a guru while loading the game from the HD (#8100005.0026F286 - 4 last digits always different), even with some assign (PROGDIR: or "The Faery Tale Adventure:", I tried to mix your crack with the HD patch available on Aminet -> not working as your crack is removed .

So if it's not asking you too much... Would you mind considering the possibility to launch the game from HD ?
This game is system-friendly but it cannot be launched from HD. Was something I never understood.

Isn't there even any timestamp difference on the files ?

OK, so it's seems that it's more work than "a quick made patch" to make it HD loadable...

Yes, I should have mentioned you need to turn on "show images" in your browser to see it. It is in the screenshot in post #21.

Lazy blighters! I learnt that poem by heart, back in... seems like just yesterday - where does the time go?

Thank you for the Faery Tale Fix, Ross. No sound screwiness up to & including Kickstart 1.3, and of course from 2.04 there's no sound at all! But that's a whole other problem for another whole day.

I'm curious though, could this AUDxLEN = 1 patch also be applicable to Brataccas? It suffers a similar audio quirk in its intro music.

Yep, all files in IPF are dated 4.4.40 (yes, 2040...).
fmain in the "no copyright version" is dated 12.5.87
But is probably tampered because the copyright notice is not cut but overwritten using spaces..

I'll check if it's something trivial a fix for 2.0+

Maybe I guess how the situation is, but they are speculations.
Inspecting the code of the two versions there are some evidences that the IPF version is the most recent (US free update version).
Probably this is the version distributed later in Europe (so the EU from SPS database).
But there are HDD versions (with the patch made by Peter McGavin) containing the disk image of the first release (which was not even supported by the author).

Malko, can you upload your installed version?
We need to fix a bit of this mess...

Maybe someone from SPS team could help us (dlfrsilver?).

---

Brataccas audio problem is the same, so the same patch can be applyed

Not to Spaceport.

Cheers.
