I think with a decent size limit it should be possible. Good idea to ask for it IC

The picture size can be kept (64x64), no need for bigger....... but donno about how big the file size limit should be.

I meant the file size (should write it next time ). Maybe something like 200 KB would be okay, if there is still enough free space on RCKs harddisk

Okay I see, but

1. This discussion was in 2003 (even if there are some posts from 2005)
2. What about 20 KB file size limit (won't have an huge impact on the bandwidth used and still there could be some interesting things done with that)
3. Still don't get the distracting point (just look at dannypets avatar )

Edit : Okay, didn't know that Well maybe there are some fresh points we can get into the discussion
Btw : Not going to have one, but like to see some

yeah, the discussion is old, and i did not said "no" as it wil not happen, just as "no" i'll vote no: if RCK changes idea, that's up to him.

i really dislike animated avatars they attract too much attention when they are cool, and often they are just a cheap excuse for crappy pr0n animations.

I think the pr0n argument is out of discussion (the one laser put in this post is just ). Means that any pr0n one should be deleted anyway (animated or not).
So you say that the main argument is that animated avatars are to distracting from the topic of a thread (or more precise the posts in it) right? So the basic idea is to keep users from watching animated avatars for hours instead of reading posts?
