Schematics Needed!!!

Hell there my fellow forum chummies

I do so need your help

I have been having much chin-waggery with my some partners in the "arcane circle of hackery", about building a 2MB chip mod for the A500 / A2000 project codename = "Chip Wizard 2MB"

My Plan is to use a Super Agnus (8375), from a dead A600 (thanks Merlicious), these can also be found on A500+'s, in a very similar way to the Mini Megi Chip

click to enlarge (thanks to amiga.resource.cx)

As you may know the Super Agnus 8375 -390544-01 is not PIN compatible with the 83-71/73B and 75B variants, however with simple logic its possible to interface this with the A500 / A2000

So... whats the problem I hear you ask.... and "Get on with it" from the back.... well.... I have my eye on you Akira

Well the Schematics I have of the A500 8730/1 and the A600 8735 are too poor quality for my eyes to REALLY make out...

I need the A500 schematic for the Agnus 8370/1 and GARY chips, as well as their routed path. I also need the pin out schematic for the 8375 Super Agnus as well..

I would be a humbled and appreciative Zetr0 if you can help

Zetro....

You are of course welcome.

I need to post you for the A2088 & NIC so I will disguise the package so it won't look like a book. Will get wifey to post tomorrow for you.

Yes Royal Fail do charge a premium for sending Reading Material

Pleasure to help, don't forget I want one of these upgrades too

Just got Home & reviewed my A500 manual,

It does not contain info regarding the 8375 AGNES, everything else but that.
I'm still sending my Manual to the ZedMan as it will still help towards his project,

But Please guys if anyone can help our bearded guru regarding the 8375 then please don't be shy

Many Thanks

TC

@TC

my friend, I do so appreciate your help

I believe that the A500, has the Agnus listed as the 8370 or 8371... chip [U2] "Fat Agnus" a detailed pin out of this is sorely needed.

this and the GARY chip [U5].

any help much appreciated

There are multiple 8375 Agnus versions with different part numbers and most likely different pinout.

my good friend r0jaws sent me this picture of his 3 state on his A2000

@ Zetr0

It may help everyone to help you if you post up the version number of the Super Agnus I sent you, if there are different versions. I can't remember what version it was.

I would say I know more about these Agnuses (Agni?) than most people

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ighlight=Agnus

http://www.amiga.org/modules/newbb/v...=29535&forum=8

I was unable to get the full information about the pinouts of the various chips.

First thing:

Most (PAL) A600's used the 8375 318069-10

I never could find out if it was the same pinout as the 8375 390544-01 (used on most PAL A500+)

But Dean Brown (aka DKB) said that his MegAChips had different flavour PCB's for different 2Mbyte 8375 Agnuses.

Extra Resources, indirectly related:

@Alexh

Thanks for the info, in fact i had caught another convo of yours on a thread on www.amiga.org about Agni as well

thanks for the heads up...

I just spoke to Merlin on the phone and he assures me that the Agnus i have comes from an A600 v 1.6

[Full Designation]
Code:
CSG
390544-01
8375
3691 20
Although it prolly means less that it sounds the silk on the chip is identical in format and stencil (font) as the 318069-10 on my 1.5 A600 June Bug and my m8 Yorkies 1.3 A600 that I have here also, However I checked the chip against rkauer's A500+ that i have here also (yes i live in a loading dock!!!) and the designation of the Agni on there is identical to the one Merlin sent me... the difference is the silk and stenciling, although CSG, looks more like how MOS used to silk the chips...

I shall take pics...

Big differences between pins 36 through to 58, just shows how incompatible these two chips are undoubtedly going to be.
