Kit to fit Amiga 3000 into a Checkmate 1500 + case
Hi,
I`m working on a kit to fit an Amiga 3000 into a Checkmate 1500 case. The kit will consist of: All metalwork to fit the A3k motherboard in the case. Extension cables to route the KB, JS + Mouse to the rear panel. New Daughterboard PCB - as the original is too high - the reason a 3000 cannot be fitted. Power convertor connector (required to disperse 5v to powerlines that are not accessible via the Zorro) The new daughterboard has fan headers, and also enables the Amiga 3000 to be powered by an ATX PSU. Kits are panned to be £180 Plus shipping (thats still to be determined.) Due to the cost of the parts, and the bulk ordering of components, that I dont have the capital for, payment would be required up front. I`ll have to set a deadline of interest, so I can order the parts without keeping registered people waiting. Its still in work in progress, thought its almost ready to go live, I`m just finalising the metal work, and wating on 2 quotes of parts required. No deadline or payment required as of yet - just please PM me if you are interested. |

Thanks!
The daughterboard has to be lower in height - so its lost 1 zorro slot. A standard Prometheus card would not fit - and I didnt have enough information to design one to fit. |

Great work - looks very neat! I can certainly vouch for @simon_m74 to deliver on what he stated. He also fixed my dead A500 plus and seems good at troubleshooting
@spajdr that furry companion is very well behaved... though does like to get very close when walking past. |

Great project! I can see there may be some demand separately for the new daughterboard...

It seems like it would be possible to redesign the busboard with a PCI+Zorro slot on the side facing the power supply to fit a Mediator bridge. Might even allow for 3 PCI slots.

I have a better idea. Make a Checkmate 4500 case with four PCI/Zorro slots and the options for a 5 1/4" bay and a 3 1/2" next to it and another one below. Or dual 5 1/4" bays and an ATX mount on the back panel and punch outs for Ratte's monitor switch and all the things. And make it compatible with all of the desktop busboards which are currently out there. If you want to make your own busboard you could put a PCI PMC slot on the backside of it to hang over the CIAs.
