Is it possible to get an A600 hooked up to the net?

Ive got an A600 and im looking at adding 1MB of ram expansion, 2MB PCMCIA and a HD either 30mb or 120MB. Just as a fun little project and so i can transfer stuff from PC to my Amiga more easily.

Ive also got an old USRobotics 14.400 modem gathering dust in a draw. Is there any way i could hook up the modem so i could browse the web (i know it will be painfully slow ) on my Amiga?

Yep it is. RedHeat has made an A500 webserver with a 500+ with 2MB, so once you pop 2MB in that thing, you suely can do basic Internet things like checking email, chatting, FTPing, and webbrowsing (with lynx obv )

I have done it using Miami but the fucker takes up most of the memory, so it's not very recommended. Use Termite or AmiTCP.

The modem wil lwork as long as it is a normal external serila modem.

Eh... MUDs?

Anyway, thisis NOT gonna be easy. AmiTCP and Termite are not apps easy to setup. The yshoud take care of your modem.

Make a deep, deep search on Aminet for docs etc.

@Dr.Doom

You might find this thread useful:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...hlight=termite

Also, here's a reasonably good (albeit dated) guide to net software for the Amiga:

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~cyber...berAm_Net.html

Some of the links for the programs no longer work, but at least it indicates what type of specifications are required for use in each case.

@Akira
MUD= Multi-user Dungeon

MUDs are online text-based RPGs. They were all the rage when I started university in 1990 and could be used to chat to others ala IRC as well. They're probably not as popular now that the internet is in widespread use, but like Dungeons & Dragons, will probably always have a healthy following.
