A2000 Keyboard to PS2 Adapter?

Just wondering if one is available? I have a 5-pin din to PS2 convetor on a A1200 tower which works great but does not work with the 2000. Any ideas?

Thanks,

M.

@Macca

Daft question for you - what's up with your original keyboard?

Ha Ha, Brilliant Metaphor.

Zetro.....................

Macca I'm sure your keyboard will arrive soon mate, It's a difficult time...
You can wire up an A500 keyboard temporarily if you have one that is.

I don't unfortunately.

I was thinking more for the future as well as there can only be so many keyboards left.

I wired up my A1200 tower so I can do things now but still would like a convertor.

I don't know about Mr Z but I take that as a very high compliment to be compared to HIM

!!!!PMSL!!!!

as metaphors go that one now has coffee over my laptop keyboard!!!

I admit all that I am comes from those around me, there are always people whom know more (which is great when i have questions) and there is this synergy of inspiration that sort of echo's around us from the people we meet to the things that we do.

like right now, this problem of yours inspired me to make a simple socket based add on for an A1200 MPU keyboard controller to DB9 (thats joystick port) RS232 back plane, that would then plug directly to an A500 keyboard.

this could also include LED activity for power / IDE or Floppy as well how cool

@Davideo

Fear not my friend... by being compared to me it now means your one of the sexy people ;D

It also means you may have the following side effects

  • insomnia
  • Inability to use English after programming for more than 2 hours
  • Terrifying addiction to caffeine
  • Soldering OCD (IT WILL BE PERFECT!!!)
  • Organizing with engineering precision the content of ones shopping kart
  • Addiction to Friday Night Curry's and Computer Gamage!
  • the need to hack something on a daily basis
  • You Turn things upside down just to see what they look like.
  • You enjoy esoterical arguments like there is no form without function
  • The need to torment your spouse / partner and small child Daily at regular intervals.

Should that you find yourself suffering from these symptoms, please see your local physician (for a chuckle)

@Zetr0

There's nothing more satisfying than spending all night finding a bug and removing it in a home grown program and then going straight to work without any sleep

I've done that for many nights and years since I started programming in 1986

Although now I'm getting back into my Miggys I'm having as much fun messing about with the hardware on them

It's also worrying that I suffer from 90% of the things that Mr Z mentions. The soldering is wher I fall down miserably! Time to get back into it - who would have thought I did courses, etc. in Electronics and forgot 95% of what was mentioned! Guess it's just because I didn't take the initiative and continue on with it.

Your adapter does sound pretty cool though. Is there no way you can just use the old 5-pin DIN connector, re-wire a few pins and output it to PS2 (or even output it to PC 5-pin DIN?) or have I missed something ?

@Macca

indeed, very simple re-work to do that.

if you want I can post a very simple schematic on how to do that for you. If you want i shall also include a revision that will allow you to keep the activity LED's

Sure why not!

I can then show you my blown up Amiga afterwards when I've accidentally reversed the polarity - lol

Seriously though I'll have a go at it. Can't say fairer than that!

If you could also be as less techy on the parts as well please.. (part numbers or something would be good).

Also words like 'put big round thing with 5-pins' are really useful as putting part 967z-micro-fibre-skunk onto flux unit 2 doesn't really work with me!

Thanks!
