GUI front end solutions
So, back in the day, AmiMasterGear and other emulators by the same guy, had a rather nice GUI frontend to select roms, do settings and that kind of thing.
Was this all custom programmed by the emulator author, or is there a specific GUI coding framework people can use to incorporate into their work to make one? |

The sources are on Aminet: https://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/AmiMasterGear_asm
Looks like he used GadTools. Not sure if he coded his own framework that encompassed GadTools or anything like that. I'm sure a quick look at the source would reveal all. |

Yeah, GadTools is simple enough, perhaps restrictively so compared to modern solutions or even MUI, but it's easy to program and effective.
I haven't looked at the AmiMasterGear source, but the files list suggests it used GadToolsBox, which is a GUI editor that generates source code you can then include in your code. Saves faffing with the boilerplate code of managing GadTools. |
