Which games are there no fully-working cracks of?

GODS by the Bitmap Brothers famously had two stage copy protection. My understanding is that the first was easy to remove, but the second was much more hidden, and made the game ridiculously hard within a few levels -perhaps a case of the Bitmaps being too clever for their own good, as some wrongly think the game is harder than it really is. Based on LemonAmiga comments SLEEPWALKER, LOST PATROL and (until recently) STRYX all had the same issue - so all four are probably better (and certainly easier) than the comments on there would imply. Are there any working cracks of these games which can reasonably be completed, either for the Amiga or elsewhere?

Hey, even infestation has a protection like that: radiation level goes up in one minute and you die

Not quite.

Endless Piracy were not a great cracking group, and whoever "attempted" to "crack" God's....simply didn't do anything.

You could duplicate their lack of effort by simply copying the original and trying to play the copy, and it would behave exactly the same as their "crack".

If they had understood how the copylock protection worked (which they clearly didnt) then they would never have released it as they did.

They beat Crystal to the release, and days later people realised there was something wrong, and then Crystal released their version that actually removed the copy protection.

The Quartex crack of Sleepwalker is fine as is the Flashtro version

Scoopex recently cracked Lost Patrol and Stryx 100%, you will find them on the file server

the last one/two years have been great with a couple of long times ones finally properly cracked
like yes Lost Patrol or Stryx

about Lost Patrol and its later protection trigger, i think some players just tought it was also the original behaviour, raising the difficulty at insane level

some minor badly cracked games are still popping out randomly, but we are in good hands here

also a mention for all the games fixes for ie 1MB Chip RAM users

Thanks for clearing those up. Has anyone done a 100% Infestation yet, or are there any others that have issues? What about compatibility with accelerators or later Kickstart versions, I know WHDLoad versions will have fixed most of those but there are any where no other version is fixed?

Several groups did Infestation, I remember the Supplex one working, as in they cracked the document check later in the game (you had to type SUPPLEX), wonder if the radiation was related to versions that didn't crack that part?

very randomly results, to be honest;
due to the lot of different miggy configs, understandable

almost impossible to have a release that works on whatever configuration, even in original

the other day i was trying the original Turrican 2 ipf emulating from 68000 to 68060 CPU, and it seems to work great in all modes, but i think its just a rare case

to not talk of the kickstarts field

its interesting that, apart the bad cracks, some does extend the compatibility also to other kickstart, RAM types, AGA or extra drives, and some (many more) will instead narrow the compatibility, compared to the originals

here the Tosec set helps a lot, each different crack version could also work for some specific setting

again, apart the ton of non 100% stuff

Question

Were there any trained versions of the likes of Rocket Ranger & It Came From the Desert? Haven't admittedly looked that in depth, but remember Rocket Ranger in particular usually having a docs file with all the fuel loads for various destinations.

Planetemu has a lot of cracks marked as fixed for AGA, which of course means fixed for 020 in reality, but on the other hand for example I know the Chain-Semtex crack of Lemmings fails on Kickstart 2 or higher, when the game itself works fine.

Glad that most of these issues seem to have been fixed.

sometime the AGA fix means fixed to work but not fully work

ie i remember some test on Ninja Warriors NOMAD AGA fix, and it crashed at the begin of stage 2

you must consider the Turran ftp in alternative to Planetemu, its surely much more updated with many latest fixes

Not sure if this qualifies but the Crystal release of Nam' 1965-1975 never cracked the VietnamHD file and the Quartex version just used the Vietnam file and edited the HD Install script to install that, so no 'fully' cracked version with a cracked VietnamHD seems to exist!

It uses Copylock on the original!

Nope, you started this thread: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...ighlight=dyter

And I found the Paranoimia 1 disk crack and uploaded to the zone that worked fine from start to finish.

Seems whoever created the HD Installer totally messed it up!

I've edited a new install_hd script:

Code:
.k drive
echo " "
echo " "
echo " "
echo " *e[33m'NAM 1965-1975*e[0m Hard Disk Installation"
echo " "
IF "<drive>" EQ ""
  echo "Please type : *e[33mexecute install_hd drive*e[0m"
echo "where drive is the name of the drive you want to install 'NAM on to (eg *e[33mDH0:*e[0m)"
  echo " "
  quit
ENDIF
echo "This procedure will create a new directory on drive *e[33m<drive>*e[0m called *e[33mNamHD*e[0m"
echo "and will copy all the files necessary to run the game from your drive."
ask "OK to continue? "
if warn
else
 quit
endif
echo " "
IF EXISTS <drive>NamHD
echo "*e[33mNamHD*e[0m directory already exists on <drive>"
echo "Please rename or delete the current NamHD"
  echo " "
  quit
ENDIF
IF EXISTS nam_disk_1:
ENDIF
echo " "
echo "creating *e[33mNamHD*e[0m directory on <drive>"
failat 99
makedir <drive>NamHD
failat 20
echo "Copying disk 1 files"
failat 99
makedir <drive>NamHD/data
copy nam_disk_1:data <drive>NamHD/data
makedir <drive>NamHD/pictures
copy nam_disk_1:pictures <drive>NamHD/pictures
copy nam_disk_1:mod#? <drive>NamHD
copy nam_disk_1:VietnamHD <drive>NamHD/Vietnam
copy nam_disk_1:RunNam <drive>NamHD
IF EXISTS nam_disk_2:
ENDIF
echo " "
echo "Copying disk 2 files"
failat 99
copy nam_disk_2:pictures <drive>NamHD/pictures
echo " "
echo " "
echo " "
echo "NAM was succesfully installed! To play the game type"
echo "Firstly type *e[33massign NamHD: <drive>NamHD*e[0m"
echo "(you may place this in your startup-sequence file)"
echo "Then type *e[33mExecute RunNam*e[0m"
echo " "
echo " "
That gets the game isntalled to HD using the NamHD directory but the RunNam script needs editing too:
Code:
echo " "
echo " "
echo " "
echo " *e[33m'NAM 1965-1975*e[0m"
echo " "
cd NamHD:
vietnam
The game now loads from HD but when choosing the language it asks for Nam_Disk_1: so it looks like it has an extra disk check?

*EDIT"
Assigning Nam_Disk_1: to the location of the NamHD directory seems to get the game working without asking for Nam_Disk_1:

Awesomes.

Pretty stupid protection considering its hard drive installable, and goes out of its way to be super system compliant and then ruins it by insisting Disk 1 was left in the drive so it can pass the Copylock.

Must have had a decent sized manual so no idea why it didn't have a doc check instead.

Morons!

Once you're happy with it, re-upload to the zone with the fixed script and i'll delete the files from me.
