That's exactly the route I'm going to take to transfer ADFs to my 1200. I read somewhere in the FAQ that you can do this with a parallel cable and some additional software but it's more troublesome than the null modem cable solution.

Zip disks are my preferred mode of transport between Amiga and PC. But it is a real pain to do whatever method you choose if you don't have a hard disk amiga side.

The Amiga Explorer route doesn't need a HD at all, but works best with 2 floppy drives (one for the boot disk the other for the blank you want to dump the image directly to).

This is quite a common question Kitty and is addressed in some detail in the FAQ. Please consult the FAQ and then explore any problems you may have here.

Common enough that question is, that's right.
Still, I've been through this during the past few day and can offer one bit of advice: IF you're going to solder yourself a 7-wire nullmodem cable, don't mess with the standard transdisk/serial.device option but directly go for transwarp/BaudBandit.device. Only with this combination I archived reliable RTS/CTS handshake at any baudrate. The transfer was done towards an A500, though. Later models with newer ROMs/WB may be better at this. HTH s/c |
