My modded A600
After a long time without one I have bought an A600 a couple of weeks ago. Since then it has been upgraded and also modified.
First I had the caps replaced by a nice guy in the Netherlands. He also fixed a fried resistor on the joystick port. Then I replaced the battery on the 1MB memory expansion. Since the new one didn't fit where it actually belonged (on the side facing the trapdoor cover) I simply soldered it to the back of the card (which is facing towards the keyboard in the A600). Then I bought a few things which I installed (Gotek floppy drive emulator, ACA 620, SD2IDE with 4GB, Netgear FA411 PCMCIA LAN card & PCMCIA CF adapter, BenQ BL912 and Jerry USB Mouse adapter). And after plugging the floppy drive slot and the hole for the KS switch I removed, drilling new holes for the Gotek display and buttons and a repaint it now looks like this: I also got a new model plate and had to replace the left Amiga key with one from an old A500 keyboard. It's darker. Now I'm waiting for my Vampire 2 -- Rainer |

Nice! Do you have a flickerfixer installed or does the TFT works with the native Amiga frequencies?
How did you close the floppy drive slot? It looks almost like factory made! |

Good work, congrats
It's easy to get the key for a pound: http://www.ebay.es/itm/Amiga-600-Ind...EAAOSwqu9VIDVN Later apply retrobright to all of them in a sunny day . Last edited by Retrofan; 04 April 2016 at 01:56. |

Correct, the BL702 (17") and BL912 (19") support the Amiga 15kHz modes OOTB, only takes a video -> VGA adapter cable. Good monitors which are still sold new.

I plugged the floppy drive slot with a few pieces of styrene and some putty, I build figure model kits and had that stuff lying around. |

Yes, I can't wait! Sadly I won't be getting it anytime soon since my e-mail is still in his inbox queue. I am glad that I got the ACA 620 though, without it I couldn't do much on the Workbench. I couldn't even get it it online with the 2MB of chip of which by the time the Workbench had loaded half was gone. Even the performance is pretty good, didn't expect it to be faster than a stock A1200. |

This looks sick! Also interested in knowing how you made the new floppy-side opening shut for your use. Did you fill it up with resin or how does this work? Please share your insight, it looks really amazing.

Which beats the point of having a self contained system.

I just peeked at the datasheets for both monitors mentioned above: they state 31kHz/55Hz minimum frequencies.

I had first considered mounting the USB port on top of the machine, but that would have looked odd.
Here's a WIP picture which shows what I did. It's basically a flat sheet of styrene (actually 2 glued together because what I had was too thin) cut to fit into the recession. I had to break off the part of the plastic below the drive slot to get a level surface. I used modelling putty to get a smooth surface and after plenty of sanding I put in the USB port and gave it a refinish. |
