I am going to set up my A600 just to be able to watch this demo on real hardware. Not sure if I will be able to record it properly with all these screenmode changes.

There's no long black screens between scenes here (A1200 hooked on a CRT TV).

Yupp, it requires 1MB. I got that message wrong. (stupid smurf)

From the BMG itself.

Just back from the party. Thank you all for the feedback!

@Cego We tested it on A1000 with 0.5 chip and fast and it worked fine.
If you are running from floppy, maybe it is a bad disks issue?
During our tests, it happened to us several times and using new disks fixed it.

quote end.

Sorry, my bad.
Still; this one is for the Ages

One of the most impressive demos I've seen in a long time. It's a huge accomplishment that this runs on a 1MB OCS machine. Congratulations to Batman Group.

It is an absolute masterpiece and very inspirational. I hope TBL makes a response demo! We are lucky to have so many talented folks in the Amiga community.

I'm here in the dark in front of my A500+, and it's the tenth time I've watched the demo. Web videos don't do it justice, it should be "enjoyed" on real hardware, crt monitors and floppys. And of course, volume up!

It goes directly to the first place of my personal Amiga demo ranking.

Just watched it on a real Amiga 500. Absolutely stunning.
Beautiful graphics and effects, good storyline and the music is so clean that it sounds like more than 8bits.

Why wasn't this released at a bigger party? It would have stolen the show at Revision :-)

THIS Demo should be an inspiration to all the Amiga Demo Coders out there,
to get off that stupid AGA Turbocard Train

(Please; don´t get upset ; (i) we still love and adore you )

But; You want to impress People ? ; Show them what you can do ?

Then do that on a A500 or normal A1200 !!!
Then you can REALLY impress People !!!

(and it would allow for a even playfield)

Too many Turbocard Demos are/ or will be forgotten,
when Demos like this will be spoken of for Decades.

This one will age like fine Wine.

(hope i did not offend anyone;but i am a Demo Maniac
and this topic gets me pretty emotional; sorry)

Love you Guys

This demo is so awesome …

Run it right here in the browser on vAmigaWeb preconfigured with the two batman rises disks.

https://vamigaweb.github.io/#%7B%22A...ises.zip%22%7D

After some time demo asks you to switch to disk2 … click the menu icon in the left upper corner and on the green bordered disk box. Mount disk2. And click again the hamburger to hide menu bar. Enjoy.

Absolutely love this demo, I started clapping at the end! Hats off you've inspired me. The atmosphere, sound track, design and effects all top of their fields.

Any chance of an effect break down? Loved the "AGA" fade on an OCS machine with 12 bits of colour. What pixel size was the rotator? Hard to tell on YouTube.

I need to download the track as well.

This is absolutely amazing. If you don't have a subwoofer or decent bass response from your speakers, you're missing out as the sub bass is exceptionally good.

Can anyone share any of the tech details? How did they get the interlace to work on some parts of the screen, but not the batman, for example? (Unless I'm missing something)

What was the soundtrack composed in? It loads REALLY quickly but there's a hell of a lot of it for 2 disks.

All in all, I'm gobsmacked. I have this running on my a1k, and it's my favourite of all time. (Of course, being new helps... but damn! It's good)

There's nothing wrong with turbocard based stuff. there's nothing wrong with demos relying heavy processing power and additional ram.

The wrong thing is, when something is coming out on Amiga for a 040+ based config, while the visuals and audio is so shameful as any bo standard A500 game / demo from the heydays kicks its @ss in no time.
Think on it when games were released for 030+ configs and delivered plain sidescrolling jump and run stuff - with awful code, poor gfx, etc.
When demos had bad timings, low fps on 3d calculations, jerky scrolling texts....
Recently things are seem to change.
Thanks to guys like the members of Batman Group and TBL. And some other freaks too.

That TurboCard stuff almost killed the scene. (imho)

It was cool for a few years, but nothing more. (imho)

( and i did got nutz back in the day ! ( 060+Cybergrafx64 )

One Reason behind the scene was to show what can be done on a certain piece of Hardware

;and that Hardware was the same for everybody (C64,Amiga500)

;that allowed the competition in the first place and inspired

It was a even playfield.

Same as in Sports; if there is a competition and one or more are WAY stronger
than the other ones, than the hole point of a fair competition is lost.

Sure i get why the PC categorie exist; there is no fixed plattform really
(and yes, Amiga is expandable)

But for my point of view there sould be distinct Amiga Categories.

Amiga OCS 1MB allowed
Amiga ECS 2MB allowed (this will be practically an non existing category )
Amiga1200 (020 only !!! / little extra ram is allowed)

and then they; Anything goes/PC like categorie.

Then, the Demo Scene would have back what they lost so long time ago. (imho)

True competition. Competition that inspired each other to do better !

Just my opinion tho; please dont get upset; just the way i feel.

If you feel different, thats ok to; of course !

Greetings, Torti

The demo scene been A500 1MB almost exclusive for some years now.
The 060 area is almost over. It is kind of true what you say Torti but people make what they like.
Remember there was a A4000/040 that is also native hardware is you like.
The thing is that it is to special or rare. Just like Commodore 128. We almost never seen a demo for that configuration.
Let's not hijack the thread and let people comment on this fantastic production
