Mouse no horizontal movement - a1200

After having bought several a1200 mainboards on Ebay. I finally got one working.

On problem : the mouse does not move horizontally.
vertical ok, buttons ok
The mouse works with no problem on my a600
I replaced the mouseport on the a1200 with a new one (It is an a1200 with wired mouseport, not the fixed-on-the-mainboard one)

So far no luck...

Any suggestions ?

Replace the mouse port ribbon cable from motherboard mouseport if your mobo uses that (mine does).

I replaced that ribbon cable already.
I sometimes got mouse movement with the new cable , thought it was fixed but...
The horizontal movement died again

Tried with another mouse? If it's the same problem then, perhaps you need to replace a chip. Could be bad contact in the mouse port too ofc.

The mouse cable might also be broken.

Yeah, at least for PC it usually affects the point where the cable goes into the mouse, you can try to cut off 10cm and solder it to the right points inside the mouse. But if you can, try with a known working mouse so you know where the problem is! Or try the mouse in another Amiga, if it works then the mouse is okay ofc.

Faulty capacitors could be pulling down the supply voltage to the CIA chip that controls horizontal movement. The fact that you say that it occasionally works would support this. I would be looking to replace the capacitors as it's not an expensive fix and they will die eventually anyway.

Seems like a logical explanation.

I will have to boost my (de)soldering skills

Thank you
