Im looking to play a good detective game, any genre will do, as long as theres some good mystery and its got great playability value. cheers

Anchorhead, a textual horror adventure in the Lovecraft style, playable on infocom interpreters; as stand-alone, there is The Hound of Shadow: both are really deep; the first is huge the second is more detective driven.

Although not a detective game in the graphic adventure mold,(more like cluedo, I guess), one should also add U.S. Gold's "Murder!", to the list.

Hmmm, if you're going cross-platform, you should consider Discworld Noir too. That's basically a detective game on the crazy world of Discworld. Humour is excellent!
