So close to 100k points. Tried this time "normal" version, now reverting back to Special Edition due to its better controls.

Had a few goes at this now. Rocking the original version just because I like original stuff and find the controls okay for me. The inertia is something though.

Found that you can only carry one revival potion, so don't waste money on that if you find the shop for it. Not sure where I'm supposed to take the letter. The wing boots are really useful in the pyramid.

Then this guy totally clobbered me in seconds.

Since I loved the original arcade, I remember buying this game back in the day because in magazine stills it looked arcade-perfect.
Truth is, Amiga port is way way way worse than I remembered: sluggish, floaty, with missing/wrong graphics, completely lacking any sense of progression, and when regular enemies are tougher than bosses (which in turn are a complete joke) you know the game is a complete mess!
Only thing faithful to the arcade is the amazing music, which is kind of expected with David Whittaker at the helm.
Probably all the development money went in his salary, the track loading routine and in that goddamn coins animation (which even slows down everything on my machine, but maybe it's a problem of Earok's version/WHDLoad slave, I don't know...)
Did a run nevertheless just to see how far could I go:

Maybe I'm lucky I don't know the arcade version to compare it to. Although I have a strange feeling/memory I played it or a similar arcade rip off game just one time.

Great score funK. Welcome. You were real close to the end.

You might have notice from the scoreboard, the bonus for finishing the game is ridiculously big and means that if 7 people finish it will mess up the league points. Anyone who doesn't finish the game would only get 1 league point. Not a fair reflection of your progress.

So, if 7 people finish the game, the final bonus will be reduced from 31,600,004 to 10,000 points.

Hope that's okay with everyone.

Until then the top players can enjoy their insane scores.

Playing this on stream tonight for the first 'proper' time at 8pm GMT over at https://twitch.tv/NAG_Graham

I'll be playing both the original and the SE to compare them both.

Well, I must admit I didn't find this as bad as I first feared. With input from Mitch and some contributions from a few others I managed to get better at this and while I wouldn't say I found it brilliant (and it's not the most polished port ever), I got into it a little.

Here's the highlighted video featuring my attempts from Monday's stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1291747987

And here's my score with the wing boots running out at just the wrong time...
