Hi - and wow!
Hi, nice to meet you I'm Eskel.
I'm new to this forum, kind of feel like I've found a hidden world here that I had no idea even existed. Last Sunday, I got my old Amiga (500 with 1mb ram and an A590 hard disk) out of the garage and set it up. Happily, I can report it still works, as does the hard disk and most of the games! My kids (aged 8 & 5) are loving it - Eye of the Beholder and Pinball Dreams are their favourites so far. Also, I saw a lot of interest here for old games. I've got a lot of them too (plenty copied but a few originals). My personal favourite as a kid was Celtic Legends, but I'm rediscovering a load of great games (Gods or Black Tiger, anyone?). Cheers, Eskel Last edited by Eskel; 20 October 2020 at 12:05. Reason: spacing looked terrible |

Thanks Chip,
My family kept telling me to chuck it for years, but now that it's up and running again my older brother's keen to come over and play. Hahaha! I didn't imagine people were still using Amigas, but happy to have found this forum. |

Would pull the 1MB expansion and if it has a battery check it for leaks and ideally remove it, even if it looks ok it's just a matter of time. Many good Amigas have been lost to battery leaks.

Welcome! Stay a while !!!! Stay foreverrrrr!!
As mrprawns says, definitely remove that barrel battery on the RAM expansion, I got a new coin battery and holder from AmigaKit. 5 mins with a soldering iron and all is good Glad your A590 is still working, I lost mine a loooong time ago, and really want to get another, or most likely tbh an ACA500+ A Gotek is a handy piece of kit too. I need a joystick for my A500, but seem to keep getting sniped on eBay, or when I do win one it just doesn't turn up lol Anyway, Pinball Dreams/Fantasies are excellent, Cannon Fodder is my thing at the moment (due to having no joystick lol). |

Thanks for the tips - I'll check out the battery tomorrow and let you know.
My brother made a comment that Pinball Dreams/Fantasies are still the best pinball simulators ever made. I certainly love them. Does anyone have a counter-claim? |

My personal counter-claim: Slam Tilt is the best. Dreams/Fantasies follow closely behind.

Welcome from a fellow Sydney-sider, hope you enjoy revisiting your A500!
There's a Sydney Amiga group too if you ever want to check it out. |

Hey Marchie - thanks will have a look for that!
@Radertified - Slam Tilt, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip. Good news on the battery. I opened up the computer couldn't find any battery leaks (or the kind of battery in the Amiga Kit link. Would it be in that big blue piece on the RAM expansion (bottom right)? Photos here: https://ibb.co/sRrj6tF https://ibb.co/KV5T2wm Update: Kids loved playing a bit of Pong and Battle Squadron today! |

Yes. Fuzzy pic but isn't there some greenish colouring - meaning leakage.

Definitely looks a little green. I would replace that nasty thing anyway, it's definitely not worth risking leaving it on there.
