Chinese 68060

I bought 10 chinese 68060 in 2020, now here is the problem, I don't know if they are real as they have been refinished. Also I don't have anything that has a 68060 socket to test them on.

I recently bought an old a1200, but yeah still nothing to put them in.

I live in the southeast UK, wondering if anyone would perhaps help test at least 2-3 of them maybe in exchange to keep one if its good?

thanks
David

Sorry to bring up an oldish thread.
I have two 68060's, how do you tell the revision and if they are fake?

Is there some software on the Amiga you can run that will tell you the revision of the CPU. I recall something like SysInfo telling my my 66Mhz clocked CPU was running at 55Mhz, and the first expected response will be, SysInfo is inaccurate, so the question is, what is accurate to get Mhz and Revision of an 060.

Thanks.

If i try WhichAmiga, i get odd results. On my Amiga 4000 which i believe is the full 68060 (MMU/FPU) and labelled as 68060RC50 from memory
WhichAmiga crashes when i try to start it.
I know it should be right as FPU dependent demos work

On my A1200, which i believe is labelled the same, says 68060RC50.... not EC or LC in the model name which Amiga says:
MC68060 42.8 Mhz Rev 6 with NO FPU and an MMU.
The printing on the CPU doesn't match WhichAmiga... and neither does the Mhz
Also, the 68060 on the 1200 is sitting in a TF1260.

this makes my head MegaHertz..... geddit?

so did i get a dud?

Anyway to make this work on Amiga 4000? I'm using 1.3.3 from Aminet.

Concerning the crashes, are you sure you installed the 68060.library?

The CPU command from Os 3.1.4 can help to identify the revision of the CPU and whether it has a FPU or MMU.

Sorry going off topic - What are these Chinese 68060 chips produced for? - What is there intended purpose?

They are not produced, as it's probably not economically viable to clone one by delayering. I don't think leaked sources are available anywhere.

Anyway, they are just re-labeled 060, usually from a lower rev (some might also be rebranded ECs or LCs as full ones) or from the XC series.

They are not produced. They are extracted from waste electronics during recycling.

Knowing the MC68060RC50 E41J brings the most money they change the markings on them.

IIRC they were present in many PBX and TV systems systems back then. I would assume most of them come from those.

They're recycling 060s: that's cool. They're "upgrading" them to get more money: elaborate but dishonest.

But at least they're genuine parts. If you can have a good deal on those, you know that you get earlier revisions but at least you get a 060.

Now a 060 without FPU isn't so useful. With a 030 you get enough power for most games non requiring a FPU.

Yeah, taken from the TF1260 Supplied Floppy Disk.
Version Says:

68060.library 40.2
mmu.library 47.1

It was a spare one i had lying around which i why i thought why not get a TF1260, though the warp1260 would have been my preferred choice, they don't actually seem to be on sale anywhere

But at least it seems genuine?

This is a very strange library version combination. Please also update the 68060.library to the latest version, 40.2 is definitely outdated. Also, please check the version of setpatch. SetPatch should be at least the version from Os 3.9, or it needs to be patched to even load the 68060.library. That is, please install with the installer from the MMULib archive.

MY BAD: Ignore. The below reply is incorrect as this question is referencing my Amiga 4000. I'll get back with a correct answer to this one later.... tomorrow.

Although the fact you say my Amiga 1200 with a fresh install of 3.2.1 using the supplied TF1260 060 being outdated is a concern. Can you link me to the one that is okay to use with this limited no fpu 060 for my A1200?

Will get back to you shortly about my Amiga 4000

The 68060.library coming with the mmu.library works fine, regardless whether a MMU or a FPU is present (yes, really!).

Thank you - while a check of the VERSION on the old and new libs were the SAME... there was a filesize difference so i upgraded it anyways as well as the mumove4k and mufast..something... commands - one of which was newer as well and i saw an instant change of my system. My RTG graphics card is now not using my chipram again (something that changed awhile ago) so that's excellent. Thank you.

BUT WhichAmiga still crashes on my Amiga 4000. I used a beta 1.3.25 from 2007 and found that it at least showed it working before crashing (before it just blacked screen with nothing) but still no go.
I have a few exotics in my Amiga that it might be struggling with and not the CPU in the end i think, so i won't hijack this thread anymore as i've gone off topic of the "how to tell if my 060 is fake"

OMG NOTE: Thank you Thank You Thank You! You guys made my year. By Installing Thomas's MMULibs from the Aminet package above on my Amiga 1200 and NOT the TF1260 supplied ones...... erm, i now have a working FPU... that's right, i thought i had one of these ripoff chinese 060's as it was labelled as a full unit, but never saw the FPU in the Amiga. Now i'm using the library, it sees the FPU, and yes i tested with Jesus Christ Motocross and Elude demos that never previously run now work perfectly.
