Shadow of the Beast 2 + Rick Dangerous 2 !!!

"Shadow of the Beast 2" was the one which brought me as near to a mental home as it can get ! I wasted 2 Joysticks, hitting them to death over my knee and needed to buy a third one to complete it !!!

But it was one of the best Amiga Games i´ve had played too.

For "Rick Dangerous 2" I needed only 2 Joysticks to complete it, the first one also died on my knee !!!

Very good Game, but considering how aggressive it can make people, it should be banned (at least in Germany I guess, where we have that unneccessary "Killer-Game" debate at the moment) :-))

Let me guess now 1978Bruder, you're a karate teacher specializing in knee uppercuts?

I ended up buying a steal-encased, steal-shafted arcade quality joystick for my most hated games.

Once while playing that formula one game by Team 17 my annoyance was so great I calmly put my quickshot python on its side and administered a swift karate chop, breaking it in two. I mourned that joystick, twas my favourite.

Street fighter 2 on the other hand I used to play with keyboard. Ever since I slammed my fist down on the poor a600hd the hard drive sounds like a jet turbine... not to mention all my street fighter 2 floppys had loose disk shutters from being frisbeed across the room to the opposite wall.

Besides some few rather chaotic passages (like the underwater volcanoes and the birds of fire) the entire game feels like one long trial & error session; if you know what comes next and how to deal with it, it will be a breeze. After having played through the earlier levels a couple of times, memorizing the waves of enemies, I can easily reach the fourth boss without dying. I've just not bothered about learning the final stages, but my guess is that when I do Project-X will be one of the few SHMUPs I can actually complete without dying even once. There's roughly one other game on that list... and that would be Gradius on the NES. If not dying the game is way too easy... if dying on level three or later it is almost impossible to complete due to one losing all the power-ups.

Project-X is not a game I would call hard. Not even frustrating. Just very very time-consuming because of the trial & error style of gameplay. You just can't beat in on your first run since there is no way of knowing how to deal with the levels.

Or, to put it another way: a game can never be too difficult, only unfair.

Then you should know that Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis I had and played on my miggy as a kid was a copy and I had NO manual or book of any kind, nor codewheel etc... I had to try all possible combinations for every place in the game where those sundiscs needed the correct combination. but there aren't really that many combinations, so it went real fast actually.

It´s in the Indys book, diary or something. I played copy too

When there are three discs (and I´m not sure if there are four), there are some combinatons. And when you play it on slow Amiga ...

You were Monkey Island 2 is getting slower little bit as well at same parts of the game.

I should mention Space Quest 4 (or 5, I´m not sure now) - without harddrive it´s not playable - changing discs all the time. Sierra didnt like Amiga players

Time Bandit. I could never figure out which command to type in on the abandoned spaceship. The prompt said something like "Try more <lightning bolt>." Tried everything under the sun. My friend had it for the ST and got stuck at the same point.

Oh, and the game became obscenely hard after you reached a certain level.

That game was one of the top distractions for me in college.
