Windows dependency

A question for... well, mostly Toni, I think - and/or everyone else that fiddled enough with the Winuae sources.

To put it simply, how much does Winuae depend on Windows, or anyway where does Windows enter the picture, aside for the obvious Direct* layers?

Imagining a "null output" Winuae which just does emulation and does absolutely anything in terms of audio and video, would that be at least moderately platform agnostic?

Graphics, sound, input, GUI, most features that talk to outside world. (serial port, midi, direct hd access etc..)

Emulation core is portable.

PUAE, led by GnoStiC, aims to bring the core of WinUAE to a wider audience - see the 'other UAE' area .

Thanks Toni.

Chiark: it's Puae, infact, that made me wonder about how much Win there is Win-UAE
