It gets that way, I won't lie. The early levels are quite easy but it does ramp up.
BUT - it also comes with trainers and unlimited level skip and continue, so it's as intense as you want it to be

Finally got a chance to play it 2 player with daughter, it's awesome and really funny to play.. You should be proud of this, its so damn hectic.
 That includes the Bitmapsoft team, the box etc are really, amazingly nice.
