I'm very surprised this is happening given the current legal situation about who owns the Amiga IP and the commercial licensing restrictions of the best Amiga emulator.

I'm also surprised that Team17 would license Alien Breed 3D considering the potential negative effect it could have on their existing business. (But they do say that there is no such thing as bad publicity)

Yep, this is clearly not for the people on this forum, nor other members of the Amiga community. This is for the people who owned an Amiga in the 90s, and never stuck a Workbench disk in the floppy drive.

My next purchase is going to be a Mega Drive Mini, seeing as the Nes mini is hacked with all the NES games and the Playstation Classic is a big 128gb emulation station . But as for TheA500 mini probably not for me, I already have an A500 and a nicely modified A1200 with all the games

Got my first Amiga (500) on August 10th 1991. This is a nice surprise exactly 30 years later.

The only partial explanation I can offer is:
Retro Games Ltd. secured/registered the trademark for "THEA500" despite the objection filed by Amigakit.
As you also know "Amiga" was registered in the EU by Amiga Corporation long ago, and more recently the trademark in the U.S. was finally assigned from Cloanto Corporation to Amiga Corporation.

If you can explain your specific concern, perhaps I can look into it.

As they said in the info this initial release for the Mini so I assume they will go the same route as the C64 and give us a full size version down the line.

Seeing it uses emulation, I wonder which emu it uses?

Also what's under the hood?

This would be interesting, if it happens.

Oh really?

Well, firstly, utilising WHDLoad makes the end user experience so much easier, because now the inserting of 2nd disks etc, is all transparent and handled by WHDLoad.

However, if they are thinking of using WHDLoad, and using installs made by the guys that wrote the installs without payment....... that is not going to happen.

Just as Antstream realised the benefit of WHDLoad and the myriad of installs done by several of us, they paid for it.

For the people behind "TheA500" their contact better be forthcoming very soon.

People using it for their own use, fine, no issues, but people using it for their commercial enterprise, thats a whole lot of "nope".

For the same money I would rather buy a real Amiga 500 with gotek and have all the games as they should be played. Not a dummy keyboard shell that calls itself the 500 but plays AGA games. It’s like sega releasing a master system mini with crazy taxi and soul calibur.

There was earlier tread in custom hardware.

Mini is not what we want - give us correct size - like THE64 MAXI for C64.

I have preordered one. It will go nicely with my other mini consoles in my collection (SNES mini, Megadrive mini, PS0ne mini and Coregrafx mini).

I am quite tempted, although I am beyond covered, Amiga-wise. I hate the gamepad included (ok, I detest all gamepads), so I hope there will be an option for using your own controllers. In the worst case scenario, I'll have a neat case for my RPi4 and a ball-less (make your own jokes here) mouse!

So I am waiting for the reviews.

I just finished putting together a Pi4 with retropie and lr-puae, which is the best consolised amiga since the original xbox.
Would advise anyone looking for an under-the-telly amiga experience to go that route.
