Beach Volley on 500+ Issues

Can anyone tell me which Beach Volley ADF works with Amiga 500+

I get crashes and black screens on all ADF's from Tosec.

If you use...

ReloKick v1.3 (1992)(AB Comp)[h Slipstream - Floppy International].adf

Then insert

Beach Volley (1989)(Ocean)[cr QTX].adf

The game works...

But can this game work without Relokick?

Are you somehow running this on real hardware? Otherwise I'm kind of confused why it specifically has to be an A500+. Clearly this '89 game was designed for old OCS machines with 0.5mb of memory, so in WinUAE I'd pick that for a config.

The purpose of this is for it to run on real a500+ hardware with a gotek drive.

I used winuae for testing methods but got no working results.

Fair enough I'll give it a go after work, I always love a good mystery that needs solving.

Amazing, a game from '89 relies on kickstart 1.3? I guess it is possible since 1.3 is from '88 :/ Seems like it would be limiting your customer base to do such a thing...

So there's no possible way unless you use relokick?

Is there a list of games that are 1.3 dependant?

In example original Ghosts'n'Goblins did not work on 500+ due to the fact it did ask for 512k fast memory expansion and NOT for 1 meg chip RAM, if i remember clearly

When I had my real A500 (1.3), all demos made at that time ran fine.

When I got my real A1200, a lot of them would no longer work.

It's the price of upgrading.

I can no longer recall which titles, but there was a good portion of games failing to work without relokick on A1200. Things were better once AGA-fixed editions began to appear and, of course, there's WHDLoad now. But, obviously, that's not a solution if you're floppy-based.

Working fine with rekokick 1.3...

So it seems this game cannot be run on its own with a 500+ in ks.2.0

I can remember that back then the magazines I used to read had these checkboxes for specific hardware to indicate if the game will work on it or not. I vaguely remember that the A500+ was not checked numerous times, but I'm not exactly sure how frequent that was.

seems something similar also for Beach Volley;
adding some fast ram at the A500+ default winUAE configuration make the game works normally

i don't know if there are some 'fake redirecting ram' programs like the Lionheart boot one (fakemem iirc?) to test also on A500+ ?

That's interesting...

I wonder if anyone can attach that fakemem app from lionheart to beach volley adf so I can test?

I tried the one on Aminet and it 'appears' to work

The starting graphics are a bit disturbed
but the game plays --- a bit fast ?

That attachment of Beach volley has no fakemem options and keeps rebooting until a guru error with winuae?

If I manually add 2mb Fast ram with winuae the game does work on an amiga 500+ config

Can Fakemem add 2mb Fast Ram on an a500+ in winuae without manually adding the 2mb on the winuae RAM options?

This is all the Readme says:
Fakemem - A nifty little utility for fooling badly written programs into
thinking that you have some fast RAM installed in your machine when in fact
you don't.
When run, fakemem should reset your machine and allocate 512K of available
memory as chip RAM, converting the remaining RAM to fast.
Works fine on A1200.

Maybe fakemem is only designed for a1200s
