unable to open your tool...

Hello everyone,
I've got a stand A1200 running Workbench 3.0 and have the following problem:
I've downloaded various applications from Aminet and now trying to put them on the Amiga's hard drive via a PCMCIA compact flash adaptor. Once the programs are across I use the bundled installer or just try and launch those that don't need installing. Either way, 80% return the error "unable to open your tool...(whatever the program is)" Oddly enough I can launch the programs from the PCMCIA compact flash - it's when I copy them to the hard drive they don't work. I've check the icon info and it remains unchanged when copied across. Also there are some programs that work faultlessly.

Edit the mountfile for the compact flash adapter (probably CF0 in Devs/DosDrivers). Change the line reading MaxTransfer = whatever into MaxTransfer = 0x10000.

It's just a guess, but it would match the symptoms: big files (programs) are corrupted during the copy process, but small files (icons) are ok.

Thanks for feedback Thomas - however, upon inspection, there is no Maxtransfer line in CFO to alter. You are correct though in that all the applications that have been copied and do work are below 190KB - those larger don't - see you're on the right path! Any other suggestions?

Added suggested line Thomas - still no change I'm afraid. Another point, I use exactly the same methods to move programs onto an A600 running Worbench 2.04 and that all works fine?
