- Again about the binary....it all seems to be backwards 17 should be 00010001. 2 should be 00000010, etc. At least, that's how I (and everyone else I know) are used to
- There's no back page. I know you have a page called the "Back Page" but it seems like the sort of page you'd see on the inside back cover. In my opinion, it an outer back page would have been a welcome addition. Perhaps another ad?

See. Nothing to cry about. There may have been others, but in the same way, wouldn't have been important.

And for whomever is updating the APoV site, perhaps a CRC/MD5 of the files (issue, maps, etc) for each issue, as shown on the mirror? Seeing that it's a ~20mb download and all.

Looking forward to the next issue.
- The grammatical/spelling mistakes were purposely added for 'authenticity'.
- I did the design for a few pages, including the Team 17 one. It was my first major go at Quark, so it's not the best designed page ever.
- The backwards binary is, er, a special Cody Numbering System.
- A 'back page' would be good next time.
- I'll look into the CRC/MD5 stuff...

Anyway, APoV seems to have taken the form of a gaming magazine. Am I correct in assuming you'll have no technical articles?
We discussed having techy articles, but didn't include any in the first issue. It'll probably be something for future issues, though.

Just a small suggestion for next time,

Maybe the PDF files could be compressed as it helps peeps not using brodband, even if it only nocks off a few megs, thats at least 15 min less download time.

I cannot even try to download it, because it has all been chucked into one huge archive I cannot afford to download through dialup.

A 20mb download takes about 1h to download on 56k. And if you want don't want to do this in one go, just use a download-manager which can pause a download (all webservers support resuming downloads now).

APoV team think about a low quality version for dial-up users... but the lost of quality of jpg was far to much, + different release would be a mess on the net

please guys, take your time, use download manager, and grab the full HQ version, better for everyone

Congratulations to all the APoV team for a great first issue
I havent had chance to read it all yet but what Ive read so far its top quality.
It took me a while to DL, about an hourish so it would be nice if it was available in smaller chunks in future, and Im sure those that have to 'pay as they go' would appreciate it too.

Good work again

Roll eyes (sarcastic)

I'm obviously being COMPLETELY thick but how do I DOWNLOAD the thing? I click on a link and it opens it in Adobe but that's it. "Save target as" doesn't work either? Please try not to laugh at my stupidity when you answer this.

Use 'save target as' on one of the mirrors. It worked for me

As I mentioned in the other apov thread. Splitting it into rars would still not be too fun for the 56k people. And neither would a low quality version. Just because they don't have a fast connection doesn't mean they don't want a good quality. It would cause some extra work indeed but the mag is already somewhat split up in the file. Splitting it up in chunks would allow 56k people who want the high quality version to download a part and read that while the next parts download.

Seems I don't get this, but you have waited so long for APoV to be released, and now you can't wait another hour for the download to finish?

Maybe more like you waited that long for Apov to be released now I WANT IT!!

Besides some 56K people might not be able to download it all in 1 session and might even have resume problems.

Thumbs up

How can you be a 56k-er and not be familiar with download managers? Splitting it into rars is pointless unless the source is unreliable so you need to get it a bit at a time from different sites.

Amazing work guys. The new mag oozes with professionalism both in terms of presentation and content. Congratulations, you should be extremely proud of yourselves. Can't wait til I can find the time to read beyond page 10.

Some stats from the redump.de mirror:

Total apov01.pdf accesses: 433
Total bytes downloaded: 1,985,141,546
this would be 96,8 complete downloads of issue 1
