Default CD icon
Hi,
I'm using ks 3.1 & wb 3.1 on an A3000 with an external scsi CD drive. I was wondering how to change the default icon for a cd? I've gone into ENVARC:SYS , placed a cd icon calling it def_cd0.icon , def_disc.icon & def_cd.icon but with no luck, when I insert a cd it still shows the default floppy disk icon... *** EDIT, I actually meant so say "def_cd0.info" etc. not "xxxxx.icon" **** IS there a tooltype I can use with CD0 to force a default icon? Any of you guys able to help? Cheers, Brakus Last edited by Brakus; 08 June 2008 at 04:51. |

This depends on wich cd filesystem you use, env:sys/def_cd0.info or env:'something'.info is used depending on wich cdfs you use.
Im sorry i can't give you the exact name you need to use, i'm a bit to drunk for that and i don't think i'll manage to have this pub i'm at to look it up. (even though i got my 'amiga usb'<winuae> stick on me. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by smoorke; 08 June 2008 at 04:14. |

There is no way to change the default disk icon for one drive only in WB 3.1. All disks without an own icon will get the one from env:Sys/def_disk.info or the built-in disk icon if the former does not exist. AFAIK this is the same for all CD file systems. The only icon which can be changed by some file systems is the CDDA (audio CD) icon. But not the icon for regular disks.
In order to change the default CD icon you probably need OS 3.9. Even with NewIcons and DefIcons only the "show all files" icons can be changed depending on file type, but not the disk icons. |

Cheers Thomas, I'll stop scratching my head now!
Always good to know that something can't be done rather than keep wondering and getting frustrated! |

I know Scalos can allow different icons for different disks, including the CD, as that's how I have it setup in the ClassicWB packs (see FAQ CDROM problems):
http://classicwb.abime.net/ If you want to have that ability, install Scalos: http://scalos.noname.fr/ I'm not sure if the NewIcons package can do the same with its deficon tool: http://www.amiganet.org/NewIcons/ |
