Question need help with RapidRoad USB and X-Surf100

hi guys, so all hardware and software installation went fine but when I go to use usb nothing happens, run xsurftest and it finds everything ok but memory test fails saying its a cache problem so run xurftest with nochache option and memory test passes but says it can't find RTL8019?

notes:
- i haven't installed any TCP any networking program (Easy net came with the card but since no DVD some files too large to transfer via floppy)
- I'm running OS3.1 on A4000D, CS MKIII (maxed out fast ram on MKIII and MB)

From my own tests, I recall that the test program is a little weird and can give the impression of an error when there actually isn't one. Install the driver and the TCP/IP stack and see what happens...

On the USB side, I'm assuming Poseidon is installed, RapidRoad driver is installed, RapidRoad is set up in Trident and the stack is online...?

all installed fine and Poseidon shows controller on line, I can't install the tcp/IP stack as it can't fit on disk so no o right now until I get my USB working

So I'm unclear on exactly what the problem is: you plug in a USB device and nothing happens? What kind of device? A Flash drive will need fat95 in L:. Are all the USB classes correctly installed and showing up in Trident? Does Trident spit out any messages (both in general and when you plug in/remove something)?

yup that's right I plug any USB stick & nothing happens, here's what Poseidon says:

-set address failed:nak timeout (10)
- device enumeration failed
-root hub enumeration failed. blame your hardware driver programmer

also

controller is marked online, there's nothing in the 'devices' tab though.

opened a ticket with Amigakit so hopefully get this figured out soon.

This is unfortunately a known problem that need some sort of action from the hardware manufacturer. Atleast 1,5 years have passed since icomp (Jens S.) said he was on the problem so i dont expect it to be fixed anytime soon.

Have a look in this thread:

you can try in Zorro-II mode first to see if it is really the same NAK issue.

yes I'm aware of that thread and as far as I remember this is an A3640 issue with RR and I haven't heard of any issues with CSMKIII users ?

just tried ZII mode and still same issue mind you I'm kind of happy too as I don't want to be stuck with the slower read speeds

that's actually encouraging, could mean there is some misconfig with the drivers or perhaps some power issue. Is this Poseidon 4.5 with a vanilla 3.1 and all icomp drivers?

Jens is using a 4k with cyberstorm to reproduce the problem, so its not entirely an a3640 problem.

I have a CS Mk2 also maxed out on memory on an A4000 KS3.1 (and 3.9) with mobo rev D and it worked right out of the box.
So maybe try with a vanilla 3.1 installed fresh on a different partition to eliminate any software influence.
Or could there perhaps something be wrong with some capacitors dying influencing this NAK timeout? my A4000 was completely recapped prior to installing the xsurf+RR

I'm basically running Vanilla OS3.1 right now and ALL my caps have been recently changed including my PSU ones and recently installed a Super Buster v11 to avoid any issues with my X-Surf.

Can you please tell me what version of the files you have and where they're located so i can cross check as I think it's a driver issue rather than hardware.

standard xsurf 1.11 040 version as driver (maybe you need to install that too first)
used Poseidon 4.5 installer

so nothing fancy really, and mine even had a PIV card and Toccata and bigramplus card installed, my daughterboard was also recapped (2 caps) and is a revision rev B

>remove your mainboard ram and try again, that would be the first thing I would do.

and please try multiple devices, I know some USB sticks can be tricky, even my Gotek does not like some.

Hey, I have RapidRoad USB and X-Surf100 on my A 4000D. So far I've just used the USB function to transfer software and haven't really dived in to the Internet side yet. I'd love to get hold of step by step instructions (like I'm 6 years old kind) if you get this figured out.
