This game was free with a magazine

This one has got me foxed. Months ago I went through (and chucked out) old cassettes with music recorded from Amiga games.....

I'm sure this was a full? game given away with one of the well known Amiga magazines, which one I can't remember.

Other things I remember was that the title music went on for ages, as well as the in game music which I must have really liked otherwise I wouldn't have recorded it!

The game itself is a Shoot-em-up flip screen jobbie. Think you controlled a spaceship of some sort. Can remember drops of water or was it chemicals dripping from the ceiling which drained your energy? Gane colours mainly consisted of greens and browns. Strange how the music stands out for me more than the game itself which makes me wonder if it was much cop in the first place!

Had a look through HOL coverdisks archive but none there ring true.
Can anyone recall the name of this one?

I remember also that if you didn't touch the keyboard/joystick, it would go into demo mode which just consisted of many of the in game screens with credits on them. Bits and pieces are coming back to me.... but I'm pretty sure now it was definately on an Amiga magazine coverdisk.

btw, TikTok, I remember Spatial Overdrive - one very fast game, and tough heh heh

Actually the dripping liquid thing reminds me of the bonus levels on the music world of Zool...

Something else, the game screens were quite dark....

Don't know whats worse.... randomly humming a tune in ya head and then getting frustrated at who the hell sung it or what the song was called, or trying to remember a game name that's like over 10 years old!

@TikTok Not Zool either I'm afraid. To be honest, I can't recall whether the game was actually ever released commercially. I'm sure it was a full coverdisk game.

Anyone got a crate of beer going?!? I've just been looking through Planet Emulation.... what's the bleeding point of rifling through that lot when a) I don't know the name of it, and b) a lot of them don't give details of what's on 'em anyway!

But.... I have been through all the coverdisk sites I can think of, like CU Amiga, Amiga Format, The One, Amiga Power, Amiga Computing. Trouble is, as good as they are, quite a few coverdisks are missing from these sites.

Yeeeeeees!!!!

The game is Future Shock. The game was a coverdisk on the magazine Amiga Fun (which was short-lived), so I was miles away in searching the magazines I listed above.

Where did I find it?

Good ol' EAB of course!

An old brilliant thread: Fiath's Copy Protected Coverdisk List lists many Coverdisks games, so I just went through the list, entering each one in HOL.... and there it was. I'd missed it by selecting "Coverdisk" (Licence) in HOL's advanced search.

Off to download it now... (it's at Planet Emulation)
