Monkey island 1+2 original boxed copy, not work on hd

Well I was given an amiga 1200 has a hard drive, extra floppy

Installed Monkey island 1 and 2, both installed fine to the games partition, however when i run it, all the graphics is evrywhere, i can just about see that the game is running its just all garbled. I dont get this problem booting straight off the disks.

However, i want to run it from workbench simply because hunting or one particular disk out of 11 every 5minutes doesnt appeal to me :/

When you switch on the computer, hold down both mouse buttons until a screen appears with the title "Early Startup-Menu". This will appear before the computer starts loading Workbench.

Once in this screen, have a browse through the menus. When you come across a box labelled "Disable CPU Caches", activate it. When you find a list of graphics options, select "OCS", or "Original Chipset". Then return to the main screen and click "Boot" (or "Boot with startup-sequence", not "without startup-sequence").

Workbench will now load, and the games will look normal again.

The problem arises from the modifications Commodore made to the AGA chipset in the A1200 and A4000. Though it improved the Amiga's graphics, it did introduce incompatibilities with earlier software. Disabling CPU caches switches off many of the speed boosts provided by the 68020 CPU, making it more compatible with the A500's 68000.

Actually, all you have to do is choose either OCS or ECS in this menu. Better leave the CPU caches on, you'll be glad you have it especially in MI2
