RetroPassion : impossible to get in touch with them...

Hi,

A friend placed an order on retropassion.co.uk some time ago.

RetroPassion answered only one email. The other mails/contact attempts were simply ignored.

Does someone know a safe way to contact them (to get some news about this order) ?

Thanks

Not that I am aware of, sadly.

I had some DOA roms for 3.2 and the only contact form on the website was "having technical difficulties". I log into the account to raise an issue with the order but choices were limited, such as start a query with "order not arrived", which was not the case. Anyway, after using this way to leave a message, 3 weeks ago, not a dickie bird in reply.

I do know there is thread on the board that is read by retro passion, perhaps now worth trying to grab the attention there.

Bit of shame, hear nothing but good things about RP but my first order with them ended in a bit of a disaster haha! Probably snowed under, just not enough UK specialists to deal with the number of rabid amiga users!

Yeah I emailed him twice this week to see how my 4000 is going (it's been near 2 months) and not had a reply.

It's good he is busy but a little irritating to not know how it's going especially after paying near £200.

The contact form is not even the same from what I saw. Moreover I couldn't find the Ticket option this time...

I saw this thread.
I'll switch to it depending if answers or not to the message I sent him on his website.

I'll try it if he doesn't answer to the message I sent him this morning via the Contact page on his website.

More or less the same here.
My friend has been waiting since May 27, when RetroPassion in his first and only answer told her he would ship the items the following week (first week of June). Since then nothing happened. He was quick to cash the 118 £, but not for shipping the items my friend ordered : A600's keyboard membrane, fastRAM card and PSU.

This behaviour is unprofessional to say the least if you ask me...

You are not the first. Check this horrendous story
http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...8&postcount=17

So many other similar stories around. It’s like everything else in the world, as long as the majority say good things then the minority with negative stories, the ones out of pocket, get ignored. He’s probably too busy buying Amigas on eBay , recapping them and adding £200 markup to worry about you.

Whilst communication (or lack thereof) is clearly a recurrent theme with Retropassion I would suggest that in the interests of fairness the rest of that thread including the reply specifically to the one post you linked to is read.

Maybe the easiest solution since he's online right now...

Hi!

Just replied via EAB and to be very clear when someone emails us on the top of the page it states 2/4 working days for a reply. Our working days are Monday to Friday 9-5:30 - closed weekends. you also see this when you have sent the message we won't reply any sooner :-)

We have seen a few threads being created and when you actually look at their issue you find that people have either been economical with the truth or their expectations have not been met and they expected something we don't offer and that's down to not reading our T&C's when they order (they also agreed they read the T&Cs when paying). We try and manage expectations and you can't please everyone all the time (sorry its a fact). We had one where 'communication was poor' we asked the customer to show us why they thought that, when they did each screenshot showed that we in fact replied same day to the first 2 emails, and 2 days later on the 3rd (and that was because it was the weekend) but they still stood behind what they said even as their own evidence they provided contradicted it, yep I still don't get it.

To be clear we are aware of one individual constantly 'stirring' things for something they had little to do with but that's fine and we will be there to balance the missing facts and have done, we as a company have grown (double) in the last 2 years with more growth predicted in our 3rd and I was doing the before forming a company and we expect a few 'haters' it's very easy to pick on a company than an individual but again there are people within that company which some forget :-)

And we had a few growing pains which we have been addressing slowly, we love being part of the Amiga community and of course the retro scene and we do get things wrong sometimes (we are human) but the people who post about us are either extremely unhappy or extremely happy!

And the ones that are extremely unhappy are a tiny fraction compared to the amount of orders and work we do that go unnoticed, no fanfare, they get their order or recapped board and we don't hear anything, we may hear from them a few months later for another item or work they want us to do. :-)

Ok do we need to monitor every forum or facebook group, no and this is because we are focused on the work, people can contact us via our contact us page and FB messenger (mon-fri between 9 and 17:30) and if we are not around you will get an auto reply stating when you should get a reply. We will certainly be reading the forums etc and be part of the community as a participant :-)

The Amiga community is alive and kicking and lets not the tiny minority distract us from doing what we do :-)

Oh we are one of the sponsors at this years Amiwest and we will be offering 3 x PiStorms (complete) for the raffle (we will be shipping worldwide to the winners so when the tickets are available you in with a good chance) What we are offering is here and you can buy raffle tickets here

Thanks!!!!

I'm not going to explain anymore as we have a lot of work to complete and more projects being released soon :-)

Thanks!!!!

I can understand that your are very busy with all the PCB recapping and stuff, but in our case, my friend didn't understand why you told in your mail (May 27) that you would ship next week and finally didn't ship anything. Moreover you didn't reply to the mail she sent you, one month or so later.

And frankly, I don't see any difficulties in shipping a keyboard membrane, a fastRAM card, and a generic PSU (since you had them in stock according to what you said in your mail).

But it's okay. You answered at least. Thank you for that.
So, see you next week, I hope everything will be fine.

My order was refurbished computer and final payment was on December but no shipment and I can not get any reply on mail, facebook or here. I had positive experience for Amiga recapping in the past and I still hope here. At least they operate as you said.

Wish I had checked here first. RetroPassion is the most unprofessional business I've ever encountered. Stay away!

Well I have placed a few orders now with them and generally the orders get shipped in a decent timeframe. The 1 exception was ordering a (backordered) external black metal cased Gotek drive for which I finally received an email saying it was going to be shipped, but seemingly took like 2 weeks to ship after that. I arrived safe and sound.

While I generally have a positive impression of Steve (retropassion), I have a major issue with his sales approach. I find it extremely frustrating to place an order on a website only to be informed that the item is out of stock and won't be available for another month or even two. This information was not clearly displayed when I made the purchase, which is concerning, especially given my experience volunteering with anti-fraud organizations. He definitely needs to improve his business model, if his site is organised like crap (not fully updated with the stock, or updated manually) he should find someone to fix this, this is 2023 not 1993...
