The junkyard level and enemies look absolutely terrible on Amiga, all gray, three colors or so. On Mega Drive it looks a hundred times better, way way more colors. The difference is like day and night.

The little machines and wheels in backgrounds in the acid river level are not animated on Amiga, and look much more boring than on Mega Drive.

The octopus boss on Amiga doesn’t move as cool compared to Mega Drive, etc. The list of graphical Amiga shortcomings is endless.

Concerning music, the Mega Drive has way more voices, so the music doesn’t cut out when sound effects play like on the Amiga. You just need a good emulator or original hardware. Many emulators don’t reproduce Mega Drive sound accurately and sound terrible because of emulation issues.

Some games are just better on consoles. Mega Turrican is definitely one of them IMO.

As what was mentioned before, Turrican 3 supports 2 buttons in standard. I can recommend You to think about ArcadeR joystick (gauge type) or modification of current one to two (independent) buttons
For Your information, here You have list of games supporting more than one button.

So maybe someone use SEGA MD/G resources and would make AGA version. There is topic which is waiting with impatience.

Turrican 3 contains Golden Armor. Mega Turrican doesnt.

I missed out out T3 on the real hardware unfortunately. For this poll I miss the option: both. Technically they're the same game, but they play different enough that I do not want to compare them. I can and want to play both.

Also now in my older age I have to admit that I prefer the more streamlined approach of T3. Not that I suddenly dislike the more freeroaming approach of the two earlier games, it's just that I've kind of overloaded myself with games that do the same over the years (the "metroidvanias") that I now crave the more straightforward arcade-y games It's a fashion cycle for me, eventually it'll flip back again.

This SNES game also written by Manfred Trenz (author of Turrican and Turrican II) is pretty much a Turrican game in all but name.

Turrican 2 was a masterpiece, no need of a sequel.

Mega Turrican was clearly superior, T3 felt unfinished/too compromised.

There's also now Mega Turrican for PS4 and Nintendo Switch with Hülsbeck's remastered music. That should be pretty much perfect (haven't played it myself yet, still waiting for that disc from Strictly Limited Games).

Many people called Turrican 1 a masterpiece and actually prefer it, so by your own logic you wouldn't have had T2 then.

Yours is a good point... I think that Turrican 2 is one of those very rare cases when the sequel is better than the prequel...
Trying your luck too much is always a risk...

With Turrican 3 they tried but in my humble opinion they didn't succeed...

They were both naff compared to the original 2 Amiga releases, if I had to pick a Turry game which I felt was more of a real 3rd game in the series I would bypass these 2 and go straight to Super Turrican 1 (not 2 as that was naff too especially the music).
