Yep, an old PC-style (15-pin connector) stick can usually be used with a simple adaptor. A few Amiga stores sell these, and they work well. Alternatively, they're trivial to make yourself if you can solder.
Amiga-specific sticks were rare, but they did exist. |

thank you for your answer, I'll try to find this adaptor. And find an old joystick (wich would be harder I bet).

Yes, apparently there is dozens of joysticks available ! thank you again. By the way, since the topic is opened, are TFX and virtual gp compatible with analog joysticks ?

In the 90s I used a QuickShot Warrior 5 QS-123A joystick with an adapter made from one of the schemes from an article in Amiga Magazine.

Actually this list doesn't include A-10 v1.5 and Air Warrior for some reason

Cody was kind enough to have a look and the problem with Air Warrior is fixed now.

Hi,
Is the thrusmaster top gun joystick compatible with the amiga ? I remember that thrustmaster made great joysticks back in the days. This one seems perfect for my purpose (playing sims on amiga). thanks ! |

I don't know about that model specifically, but in general, simple 2 button sticks are the safest choice. Logitech Wingman base models works well and are common ebay.

thank you, I'll search for it. The topgun joystick have a "mushroom" button (if you know what I mean), maybe it will cause problems.

When getting an analog joystick, make sure it can be trimmed/calibrated on the stick. Some Amiga games that came with analog joystick support didn’t come with tools to do calibration. (I’m looking at you, Tornado ECS version… got fixed in the AGA one)

I did use the cheapest CH Flightstick with adapter. It was good for flight sims but else the long ranges of movement were poison for a player accustomed to a TAC-2...

here's the joystick I was looking for. If I understand you, it's too complex for the amiga. Too bad, it looks bad ass and thrustmaster is a good company. EDIT : something like that would be a safer choice ? 2 buttons, trim wheels. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/156064410908...Bk9SR_bWn8P2Yw Last edited by demether; 26 May 2024 at 11:24.
