BTW Desert Strike is about to be released with CD32 enhanced controls (no need for keyboard, even level passwords are hardcoded to avoid typing them), Chaos Engine 2 (AGA) was also released to use CD32 buttons for pause, esc, etc...

Feel free to keep suggesting games, and bump requests if needed.
Re: Desert Strike.

Abaddon did a version for me (he never officially released it) that (as per the Mega Drive version) had guns, rockets and missiles on separate buttons so there was no need to awkwardly cycle through them to get the weapon you want. Any chance you could add that feature to yours as well?

Abaddon sent me his source, I started from that I've known Abaddon for around 20 years we always shared source code (unlike some...)

The version wasn't useable as-is because of password entry. Virtual keyboard is really difficult and long (and game doesn't like VBL redirect that CD32load has), so I opted for a joystick read in the password screen.

All fine and dandy except for:

- some blitter errors remaining (scenery flashing and all)
- cpu dependent loop in music replay (fixed)
- trashed screen when RESTARTING a mission

I'll try to fix the mission restart then I'll release it as whdload and on my RUGCD disc

Super cheers to you and Abaddon for dusting this off.

Request : All platform games that use UP for jump ( Jim Power, Turrican etc ) needs jump on a button for better gameplay i think.

With your method, can the UP input be disabled to keep only the jump button (to have only one input allowing jump ) ?

Jim Power & Turrican, okay but those already use the second button for smart bomb or something right?

I suppose I could create an option to make jump available on another button but that's different from other fixes, so I'd swap the smart bomb on another button instead.

For Turrican 1-3: please check how Earok mapped the CD32 pad buttons for his lovely CD32 trilogy. Would be nice to have the same in the WHDLoad patched games.

Jim power just use 1 button, smart bomb is done keeping fire button pressed

@JOTD : When remapping, is the original input disabled ? (up )

@Retro-nerd : Yes The turrican anthology is great with CD32 pad but i don't know if UP input was removed, i have to check this

No, "UP" wasn't removed in Earoks Trilogy. But this shouldn't be a problem for Jotd to do that additionally.

Alien Breed already has CD32 pad support (I added it months ago)
Battle Toads: looks good, but multi-part game makes it difficult to implement
Final Fight/Street Fighter 2: sure it's worth it?

I've finished converting StarRay: play for pause. now no need for keyboard at all.

Wow, that was very fast, thank you

The new Jim Power slave really improves gameplay with second button for jump. I have the same sound issues you listed on readme, but i only tested it on FS-UAE, maybe this doesn't happen with real hardware (was unable to test as mine needs to be repaired) ?

For Venus the flytrap i spoke about, i don't know if it can help but it seems simillar to Jim power : no jump lenght dependant from the time you press up, no ladder to climb and a shmup phase

"no jump lenght dependant from the time you press up": not true with Jim Power. Keep button pressed you'll see that Jim jumps slightly higher. But te code is less messy than in superfrog: joystick is only read at one location, unlike in Superfrog where it's read at at least 10 locations.

I really don't remember the music being faster like this on my A1200/060 or even CD32. After testing, on 060 music speed is correct. So emulation issue.

Venus Flytrap, could be done. Stingray provided the source. I don't think he'll object.

Wow ! Jim Power with 2 buttons and up input removed

That was fast!

Really nice work JOTD,

Now this platform game has perfect gameplay

Respect

EDIT: My second wish would be Snowbros with jump button and up removed, for a perfect arcade feeling, like bubble bobble, it would be insane

But SnowBors just support 2 button pad. It has a Mega (megadrive) pad option for that.

What about Street Fighter II? This game have 2 button support already from beginning... or it's about full CD32 joypad support (3x punch, 3x kick) like in "Super..." versions?

I wonder did anybody mention better pad support for Flair's Oscar and Trolls?
How about Team17's Superfrog.
There should be second fire button jump option.

CD32 and Islona versions of SuperFrog had from beginning 2nd button support (as jump), and WHDLoad patch for old floppy version is available already from some time.

Really, for me it's weird to not check some propositions if it's already done before requesting it.

Edit: I was reading about it many times and had already 2nd button supporting version (CD32 one). People were nagging about it instead trying CD32 or Islona versions, what was funny and weird for me. Probably it's will be mentioned again even if there is patch for floppy version...
