Have you tape recorded Amiga game/demo tunes?
Back in the years i had a habit to record amiga game & demo music to cassette tapes. My favorite songs we're the title song from Double Dragon II, Hostages in-the-building-song when there's enemy nearby, Silkworm title song, Ninja Warriors title song etc. Don't remember so good 'cause i've lost the tapes .
Anyone else had this odd (but nice) habit? Last edited by Bamiga2002; 02 March 2006 at 00:50. |

yeah, many years ago i recorded to tape the tunes from shadow of the beast, turrican 1,2,3 and a few cractros. I remember the music from the legand crack of Ohnomorelemmings quite fondly and the spreadpoint crack of troddlers. Id really like to hear that spreadpoint music in a modern remix with updated instruments, which id do if i had a clue how to use modern music creation software :/

When I was 14 or something I had Crazy Comets, Commando, Monty on the Run etc music in my Walkman. By 16 I had turned square and hardly touched my computer. A few months later Amiga turned me toward the path of the righteous ... |

I was doing this too. Sometimes it was difficult to fet a good sound balance, because in some tunes you have 2 chanels on the left, and two on the right. Especially c64 recordings sound a bit lame on tape.

When I saw Shadow of the Beast at a friend's house, I was totally stunned and the next time I went to his house, I brought a tape recorder to record the music.
A few months later, he sold me the Amiga (and Beast). After that, I just recorded my own music - created with DMCS. Quote:
After seeing Beast and listing to that music, there was no way I'd like Double Dragon. (actually, it does have a little nostalga for me..) Edit: Oh wait! That was Double Dragon 1. For years, I've been thinking it was Double Dragon 2 for some reason. The music for the second one is better. (but I only like blocks 16 and 22 in the mod) Last edited by mr_a500; 05 March 2006 at 19:12. |

Monkey Island 2 for the Amiga (sad, I know, but I loved that opening tune!). Also Robocop's sublime opening on the Spectrum kept me highly entertained!

Yep, when i bought the game "Knights Of The Crystallion" back in 1990, it came with a cassette tape with all the wierd music from the game in it. So on one side of the tape i recorded some other Amiga games tunes, and i still have the tape to this day and i actually play it when im washing the dishes in the kitchen!. hehehe..
The tunes on the tape are as follows: Cadaver Xenon II Black Crypt Blood Money And 1 other tune... but i cant remember what it is!?. i'll have to play it again to find out. |

I've been thinking of making an audio CD with some of my old Amiga favorites (various oldskool demo/diskmag mods from the early 90's), but what is the easiest and best way to convert a mod file to a wav or mp3 file, preferably without using WinAmp?
I already made a similar CD with my favorite C64 music and that was really simple, just saving the files as a wav using Sidplay. But is there a similar way to do it with Amiga music? And like I said, I prefer to not use WinAmp if possible. |

I use WinUAE to save as a wav.. It plays the mods back more accurately than a PC modplayer might.. It'll also play stuff that isn't MOD
I then just convert to MP3. |

I recorded the music from the C64 Last Ninja games on to cassette. Some years later I bought 3 CDs called "Best of SID" through mail order. They contain some fabulous tunes from the likes of Rob Hubbard, Mathew Cannon, Ben Daglish and Tim Follin. Many of the tunes are still good today - testament to the power of the mighty 6581 SID chip.

I once downloaded a c64 music package (zip), 50mb-ish... tons of tunes in that one I'll tell ya..... listened to them all and kept the best ones.
It's that.. DSCT, DCCSt.... something name of the page/package.... it's still commonly known.. but don't bother looking for it.... but think lots of you know where it is and which one I'm talking about.... |

Phew! Nice to know that I wasn't the only one who taped music from Amiga games / Demos and I still have them somewhere... some I can remember taping: Pinball Dreams, Leander, Pinball Fantasies, SWIV, Future Shock, to name a few. Many mods from demos too. My old man (rip) was forever playing them in the car, with a Jean Michel Jarre / Vangelis track thrown in every now and again... never did sound right played on a car cassette stereo though (2 channel per speaker). Time to dig out / listen one more time / then ditch those tapes, and burn my favourites to CD.

I taped the music from "Robin of the wood" for the 48k speccy. I was so impressed as it had a few channels sound from the internal speaker/bleeper. 1 bit eat your heart out! It's a great tune.
