Sourcing IDE connectors
Time for another daft question:
I've been looking for a female-female 40pin IDE gender changer for some time - no luck... ...never mind, I've got a more 'flexible' idea: Make my own ultra-short IDE cables. -Got plenty of ribbon in both 40 & 44 way types. -Got no end-connectors. After some fairly exhaustive Googling (at least by my standards) I've turned up nothing, zip, nada... Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who sells the connectors for crimping on to IDE ribbon? 40 way, but 44 way would be good too. Thanks |

We can make these cables- we stock a wide wide range of IDE cables here:

You could not crimp 44-44-40 cable as the 44-way connectors use finer pitch cables than the 40-way connectors. But we could make such a cable by splicing the cable at the 40-way connector end. It would take some time to build such a cable.
It would be better to buy a buffered IDE Interface such as: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=532 |

I just used a cable I bought from Vesalia. Never feel the necessity for a buffered interface.
But when unplugging it from the Amiga the middle connector gone south... |
